When Jurco comes back, I'd put Franzen and Nyquist together; maybe goose can light a fire under the Mule's ass. And when the fire is lit, watch out, there might be an explosion in the final couple weeks.

Or maybe Franzen can drag him down?

Why change the nyquist line? IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT.

You break it up because Jurco has to play somewhere, and I would prefer him play with players he has had success with. And its not like Nyquist's hot streak started when he moved to the Sheahan, Tatar line; he was doing just fine playing with Franzen and Legwand before Jurco got hurt.

Correct. With Jurco back I would like to see Franzen moved down to the 3rd line to play with Helm.. Helm seems to be able to get Franzen competing out there.

Nyquist- Sheahan- Tatar

Jurco- Legwand- Alfie

Franzen- Helm- Bert

Glendening- Anderson- Miller

I liked the legwand Franzen nyquist line. But they way him and Sheahan are going they could be our second line for next few years. Maybe put jurco with them and bump Tatar down to third line and Alfie on first line or vice versa.

The interesting thing is that it seems that Tatar's cold streak started when Jurco got hurt, maybe it has something to do with Jurco playing physical and creating space for Tatar. So I'd put that line back together and see if some of that early season magic can be recreated.

As far as Alfie, I was clamoring for weeks for Babs to put him on the top line; but I Just can't stand Franzen and Alfie playing on the same line. They both seem to wait for the other to give them the puck. Anyway, even though it makes little sense, I think you drop Alfie back down on the third.

#redwings no datsyuk at this skate, let alone drills. Not unusual to skate later or earlier, if not playing. "Pasha" unseen, on ice, now.

That was Gregg krupa's tweet from earlier. I don't think its scary or a bad sign

Datsyuk not on ice at practice today......

Not a good sign.

Does this mean pavel is on the ice now?

I don't think so, might just mean he's not ready for full practices yet. Apparently will skate on his own tomorrow according to khan I think. I wouldn't expect him back until next week anyway, but it's still promising.

Abby skated today tho in practice which is very good news. It shouldn't be too long before we see #13 back, just might have to temper our expectations as to when.

As exciting as the thought of Datsyuk playing again, it seems to be really evident it wont be at 100% anytime this season....

The fact that he is saying he would still be dealing with pain and discomfort if he returns this season, leads me to believe his knee isn't feeling much better.

I'm betting on a return with him at 60-70% capacity, followed by off-season surgery.

Do we want him back at 60%-70%? Don't get me wrong I love Pav (my favorite player) but I don't want him to make it worse and have it drag on into the future. I guess the question would be how much of an impact can Pav have playing at half speed?

This whole Weiss situation makes me jealous of the nfl where they can sign contracts with certain guaranteed money and cut players who don't live up to their contract. The guaranteed money gets them to sign the deal even though they know its not certain the deal will last the full term. Weiss has - unluckily - been a disaster this year and may never be the same player again after this injury - here's to 4 more years of injuries.

Weiss wasn't what we needed in the first place. We need a power forward for the top 6. Weiss is just about the polar opposite of someone who is hard to play against, drops the gloves occasionally, and provides offense on a consistent basis. Can't do any of that stuff if you're made of glass.

Losing Filppula we did need center depth. Could have used even more as it turned out. If we needed a power forward, which is debatable, it would have been in place of Alfie.

Of course, seeing how the power forwards from last summer are working out, I'm kind of glad we didn't get any of them.

We got dat, z, Sheahan, helm, Anderson, glendening. CENTER IS FINE, legwand was added due to injuries...but to start the year Weiss wasn't what was needed at all.

We have a lack of top 6 wingers.
