We need a shutdown D but we also need at least one more solid D-man. Ideally we should get two, but I'll at least one.

Neither Edler nor Myers are as good as they're sometimes portrayed on this site. Myers may not even be better than Quincey. Edler is. But not nearly as good as his asking price is going to be. It's all unearned reputation that this point. I'd rather have MacDonald than Edler. He's as good and will cost less.

Yes Ive been saying that kip, you hit it on the head I think myers has a tiny bit more upside than quincy cuz of size...

Looks we have kronwal and Ericsson and maybe even kindl with some versatility and the younger d man (dekeyser and smith) lashoff a weak link some what.... He has potential tho and I think a bit of exp will go a long way for our young dcorp

For sure he's got more upside. But so far, he's never played up to his potential. He gets by on his size and draft position, but he's really not very consistent at this point. His boneheaded miscues make Smith look like Sergei Zubov.

I think Scott actually started his NHL career as a defenseman but I don't remember. Either way he's terrible, so I get your point.

MAF is free agent next year and I doubt he will be resigned by the Pens. They are in good shape after all....

Watched Leyang last night on RDS and he seems pretty "lost", he didn't sounded positive at all.

Another shutdown guy couldn't hurt, but - broken record alert! - I really think the priority should be an offensive defenseman. Ericsson is a defensive defenseman. DeKeyser is a defensive defenseman. Quincey logs big minutes but doesn't put up points, so I guess we can call him a defensive defenseman. Lashoff is a defensive defenseman. That leaves Kronwall, Smith, Kindl. Smith is on the third pairing and Kindl is a healthy scratch. So, Kronwall is our only big gun on the blue line. So, Kronwall is lonely.
