Dam did my post really catch that much of your attention? I feel honored. But hey I actually prefer female dogs thankyou very much. You might know a thing or two about that.

I know everything about that!

It's getting to the point where I'm getting irrationally upset with Luke Glendening. I know it's Babs calling the shots, but... come on.

I just don't understand what the plan with Weiss is at this point. Are they buying him out in the offseason? They can't be thinking of shopping him, because the market for 4.9 million dollar healthy scratches just isn't what it used to be...

It could just be a way to get Weiss unhappy in Detroit so that he'll waive his NTC. But that would kind of hurt us in free agency

I don't think Babs has any "plan" for Weiss, nor do I think he is concerned with our ability to trade him. That's Holland's problem.

But I don't think it would be that hard to trade him if we really want. Worst case we'd have to retain some salary. But he is scoring at close to a 40p pace despite his limited role, so we may not even need that. We wouldn't get much for him of course, but I think all we'd really want is the roster spot and some cap relief.

If we retain some money and/or take another crap contract off another team Weiss can be moved. Honestly Andersson=Weiss imo... Weiss has more playmaking abilities, Andersson is bigger and better defensively. That's how far this guys career has fallen. I don't know if it's injuries or he's just miserable but his career has taken a serious nosedive

I imagine a blueline built of all around defenders in the style of Kronwall. I don't like the idea of a 7M/year Mile Green in our top 4

That might've became a thing if we had gotten Victor Hedman. Our top 4 couldve been Kronwall, Hedman, Dekeyser and Quincey or Smith. Not bad when you think about it

Jesus, Weiss is just going to have to waive his NMC to get some playing time I guess. Forget the Phaneuf deal, they will want to much of our future in return. Just trade Weiss for the 2nd we traded away. Waive Kindl, re-sign Zitz and Cole for a year and rotate some more kids in and out. Oh...if Babs wants to go to Toronto, then let him take his bogus line combos with him

Have you seen Andersson play? Especially without Pav in the lineup, it's insane that Weiss is sitting for a 4th line PKer.

He actually had a nice game tonight against the Panthers. His line was the only one getting chances. The way Miller is playing right now I say Andersson>Miller but Andersson is consistently worse then Miller most of the time. The whole team looks completely gassed and in need of a break. People act like Weiss isn't consistently one of our worst skaters when in the lineup while not being able to kill penalties/skate/play defense Edited by joesuffP

Andersson gets a bad rap because he's the worst forward on the team (not counting cleary). That doesn't mean he's a bad player. He's got solid defensive smarts despite being ineffective offensively and physically. He'd be semi-decent on a lesser team

Yes, he's expendable, like Lashoff, Huskins, Gustavsson, etc. But that doesn't mean he isn't useful.

I'm with ya on the Miller thing. But I think we both know he isn't going anywhere because he's another "real gud" Babcock guy. The wings could have 4 lines deep of guys that can play, and consistently don't. That's my only beef. I don't even think I hate Andersson, I just hate how much Mike plays him and how he uses him. Kind of like Glendening last season before he worked on his skating in the summer.

That's true, but I think it also has to do with Weiss sitting while he plays. Babcock needs to get Weiss back in the lineup and figure out how to use him effectively, instead of just trying to write him off. A highly regarded coach like him should be able to do that. Weiss brings alot more than Andersson does.

He did the same thing with Legwand. I can't say its not situational, but he does have a track record.

Legwand got demoted when the team got healthy. Weiss lately is almost the exact opposite. Most likely Babs just wants some size out there with Gus and Pulkkinen, but who knows.

If anything we should be looking to package a couple forwards for a defenseman, not a defenseman for a forward (especially one that will be 36 going into next season). Our forward depth is unbelievable, and our defensive depth is lacking.
