I agree however Dats was too small for a while too, I see a lot of similarities in Dats and Nyquist so I feel his size will soon come....

... I still feel Datsyuk Zetterberg Nyquist .is a "secret weapon" line that would 100% bewilder whomever the opposing line happens to be.

Like I said, Nyquist could be a great addition to z & D for certain matchups. But during the playoffs Nyquist would probably get bumped for a more physical player like Abby or Healthy Bert, Similar to Saad getting bumped for Bickell

Zetterberg- Datsyuk- Bertuzzi
Franzen- Weiss- Alfie
Nyquist- Anderson- Tatar
Abby- Helm-Miller/Eaves/Sammy

Kronners- Ericsson
Dekeyser- Smith
Kindl- Quincy

- I think this will make the team as balanced as possible.
- Bert, as long as he is healthy, is better than Abby on the top line with Pavs and Hank. Bert is a bigger body, and is able to create more space for the Eurotwins. Also, Bert is a very good passer, and can contribute with goals. 2nd!!

With Berts vision and passing skills and the attention he still commands on the ice I can see Hank having a great year production wise with he and Datsyuk.

Sure, if your line porn means three non-physical players on a single line. In case you'd forgotten, Zetterberg and Datsyuk have, when together on a line, seen their greatest success when paired with a physical player who can do the grunt work in the corners and screen the goalie. Holmstrom is an excellent example of this. Brunner is not. Nyquist would not be either.

It would also be a line lacking in any sort of physicality, anyone to clear space, and anyone to do the dirty work in the crease.

Datsyuk and Zetterberg are both well known for their grunt work all over the ice, however to fit your model of player for this role how about Datsyuk Zetterberg Tatar

....Tatar is amazing around the net and could be holmer with sick skill and again line porn does come to mind (no pun intended)

So let's be honest... Helm is not going to be ready to start the season now that he pulled his groin. So.. here's my new lines:

I really don't like emmerton, I don't think he brings any pluses to this team (no negatives also he's just kinda there) so I will create any situation where he gets bumped off this team instead of eaves or tootoo. So if I were the coach I would try this for a few games

Nyquist Z Alfie

Franzen Pav Abby

Tatar, Weiss, Bert

Miller, Andy, Tootoo

Eaves/Sammy

Kron, Big Rig

Kindl, Danny Deke

Smith, Quincy

Put Helm on LTIR until he is absolutely game ready. Waive Emmerton. And then wait until helm's absolutely ready to solve the one to many forwards problem.

Per Khan lines at camp:

Z, Dats, Abby

Frazen, Weiss, Alfie

Nyquist, Andy, Bert

Miller Emmerton Eaves

Sammy Glendening Tootoo

Jurco, Sheahan, Tatar

looks like tatar is pretty low on the depth chart

How is playing on what's going to be the 2nd line on Team Lindsay mean that he's done something to piss Babs off?

Edit: Full roster/pairings here  http://assets.sbnati.../Camp_Lines.jpg

As you can see, there's only 1 training camp team that has two current NHL roster centers in their line-up, being Team Howe w/ Weiss & Emmerton centering the top two lines.

Be fun to see them switch Mantha for Franz en in that lineup for a few shifts, number one just to see how he does and number two to send a wee bit of a message. Ha ha ha

Ah, sorry, didn't see that dregerface had already posted it.

I think the problem with swapping Franzen and Matha to send a message - and, mind you, I say this knowing you were basically joking - is that the big knock against Mantha has been his "compete level" (as Babs would put it). Essetially the same problem Franzen has: being consistently competitive, intense, invested, engaged on the ice. Fortunately, Mantha seems to be very aware of this shortcoming and seems dedicated to fixing it. Whereas Franzen.........

i think the thing that is still worrysome is the line tatar is on would not be one of the top 4 lines. obviously camp can be a fluid situation and things may be totally different tomorrow. but seeing where player are slotting in shows which players they project on which lines. so as it stands they are trying bert on the 3rd lin with the 2 kids and then the emmerton line would be the 4th line. then that leaves tatar on a line with a couple guys that most likely arent with the big club this year. so he isn't getting the chance to develop as much chemistry with the roster guys, isn't getting a chance to show what he can do with nhl caliber linemantes, etc.

its obviously not the end of the world or really even a big deal. its just not putting tatar in a position to succeed. i would have hoped that his play in the ahl playoffs would have earned him that.

I love Maltby, but to say he wasn't a ****** is a dis-service to his career of douchebaggery.

I'm calling it right now.  The most impressive, hardest working line in camp will end up being Jurco-Sheahan-Tatar if they stay together for the majority.

Probably a 3rd line of Cleary-Andy-Bert more than likely.

What I initially wanted:

Z - Datsyuk - Alfredsson

Nyquist - Weiss - Franzen

Abdelkader - Helm - Tatar

Miller - Andersson - Bertuzzi/Eaves

Expectation with Cleary:

Z - Datsyuk - Abdelkader

Franzen - Weiss - Alfredsson

Cleary - Andersson - Bertuzzi  :paperbag3:

Miller - Emmerton - probably Samuelsson at this rate

Haha yea I was kidding.. lines all depend on what happens in the next three weeks, both roster move& injury wise. So I won't speculate too much until more happens but,I wouldn't be surprised if that were our third line to start the year. *fingers crossed* it's nyq-andy-tatar somehow tho
