This is what I see facing Boston for Game 1

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Abdelkader
Nyquist-Weiss-Franzen
Tatar-Sheahan-Alfredsson
Miller-Helm-Cleary
Glendening/Andersson

Kronwall-Ericsson
DeKeyser-Quincey
Smith-Kindl/Lashoff/Marchenko

Pretty, eh.

I like how it looks, actually, given the roster we have. I would switch Nyqvist and Alfie, though.

you're pretty much spot on I think. Except Marchenko has to go down to get under the roster limits.

I think this is pretty much right but I'm not too thrilled about it. I can't stand Abdelkader in the top 6.

Z-helm-d
Tats-Sheahan-jurco. ...2a/2b
Nyquist-weiss-franzen..2a/2b
Miller-glendenning-abby
Andersson, Cleary(ha)

1st line-let me preface this explanation by saying i know this wont happen, but id love to see it: as long as he can be physical and durable, helm would pull the piano up the hill, push it down, beat it to the bottom then pull it back up to meet up with everyone else.
but seriously, it would be nearly impossible to score against them, or even touch the puck.
(But it'll most likely end up being z-d-abby)
2a/2b-(kids)young, fast, aggressive, skilled, and they compliment one another so damn well. (Start them as the 3rd line and if/when they start dominating like they did last year then move them up to the 2nd)

2a/2b-if Weiss isn't healthy or can't cut it then move franzen to center and insert Alfie, or mantha, or pulks, or (gag)cleary.

4-what our checking line should be. Its honestly hard to find places for Glendenning and miller sometimes because of the glut of forwards, but miller is a damn good 4th line winger, and I really really like Glendenning.
He gets under peoples skin, he's fast, physical, and he's not a liability playing against other teams top lines, I just hope to hell he finds a scoring touch.

And obviously I don't want cleary to be on the roster, and Andy deserves to be traded to a place where hell be able to play every day.
I'd like to have a much cheaper Alfie but I don't see why they'd sign cleary if they thought his back was going to be well enough to play.

And I know he'll end up in the lineup eventually regardless, but I won't be happy if Jurco isn't playing opening night...hes so effing versatile and I'd love to see those three left together for as long as we have them, the things they did together was incredible.
It still baffles me why they weren't put together at all in the playoffs.

Edit.
Forget everything I said.
Step 1.Resign Alfie

Step 2. rotate Abby, cleary, alf, and franzen on the top line with z&d, and pick the rest of the lines out of a hat after every period, because chemistry scares Bike Mabcock..

Step 3. Every tenth regular season game AND every playoff game is Dan Cleary bobble head night.

Step 4. Have fans throw Dan Cleary b-heads at opposing teams top players and goalie until injured or distracted enough to be useless.

Step 5. Win Stanley cup.

And somewhere around step 8 the conn Smythe trophy is changed to the Dan cleary bobblehead trophy.
Which looks exactly how you think it would.
Just a foot taller.

Under no circumstances should Abby be in the top 6. He has proven he isn't capable of playing that role and has what, 40 points in the last 120 games while playing with two of the best players in the league. I can't even count how many breakaways or open nets he misses, and gets goals because the puck bounces off him. Jurco should be in that role over Abby, has way more skill and plays bigger then Abby most of the time.

where is Ferraro and Callahan at ? Oh ya, gone to GR, or worse, waivers. Both deserve a spot over Cleary. I really hope they clear waivers. I know they only played a couple games, but would hate to lose them for zero.

Sadly, I see Ferraro as a career AHLer, a dime a dozen type player that can and probably already has essentially been replaced but one of the many signings this offseason. Callahan, on the other hand, is a heart and soul guy, the type of player that puts it all on the line every night, that will stick up for and go through hell for his teammates. I think he will be one of those great bottom six guys that every team needs, that will kill penalties, play sound defensive hockey and chip in a few points. He reminds me a lot of a Kirk Maltby, Steve Ott or Dan Carcillo without the dirtbag, f*ck monkey attitude...

This. Callahan is the kind of fourth liner you win cups with. Unfortunately we have a lot of third liners so he'll get pushed out of the lineup.

if Callahan is that type of player and turns out to be even better, then he will have a hard time clearing waivers. He will be snatched up, probably by Nill or Yzerman, and we will lose him for the sake of Cleary. This is why I hate Holland and why I commented in the 4 year extension thread my dislike for the extension.

Why don't you wait till that actually happens b4 u jump to conclusions and down Hollands throat. If we lose Callahan to waivers I will be mighty upset as well, but for all we know at this point he makes the team and Cleary doesn't.

Really upset of Ferraro and Callahan? I agree they should get a shot but we have like 37 4th line players as it is.

People should be more upset about certain guys being buried in the miners that's should be in nhl. Tatar and nyquist last two years now jurco this year. Next year will be mantha.

Well, at the end of next year, Alfie will retire, and hopefully Cleary will do the same or be let go. So that's 2 spots right there. A 3rd could crop up depending on whether management views Andersson expendable. Which i believe to be true.

I'm tryig not to think about next off season. All our "core" is signed so there will be very little of anything going on. Nyquist will be only one of significance that needs to be signed I do believe?

I wasn't exactly being specific you guys get the idea...it'll be resigning of a couple or several guys with little to no action in free agency or trades.
