In that same post I said Canada has the talent to win it all..they just aren't gelling good yet....stop trying to make things that aren't there.

I don't even think right now as it stands Canada is in the top 3 teams. US,Swe and rus in no particular order.And that's only because those teams seem to be gelling a bet better right now. Not to say Canada wont turn it on because they do have the talent to win it all but don't sell any of the other teams I mentioned short.

And how is it if an American states that team Canada should be playing a lot better when they are not ridiculous? With all the hype team Canada has gotten even before the Olympics started you would of thought that they already won the gold. And you can say that isn't true all you want but it is. And if anyone is taking what some people on the HF boards has stated for fact then I have nothing more to say. HF boards are well known for idiocy and nothing against anyone on here that posts there. But it's either 1 extreme or the other it seems on that site.

Of course HF boards is for idiocy as per your opinion, unfortunately it doesn't change a thing I have read coming from American's.

As for an American stating Canada should be playing better, it really has no merit on how we feel. We haven't lost a game, we have let in the least amount of goals in the tournament (oh but of course the conspiracies of who we played and how the teams were picked) and we are still undefeated, we are happy where we are. If USA beats us or Swiss then yes, we are not happy. Until then just worry about how American's performance should feel, not Canadians performance.

It also doesn't matter to us Canadians what kind of hype the American sports media paints on us in terms of hype, every country has one goal in these games and that is to win Gold. We ice the top players in the world, which Canada is known for producing, this is not a knock on USA because they develop and ice great players as well.

At the end of the day, it's a win win situation for us because we get to watch the most talented players play against each other. I just hate coming into this thread and seeing an American talk about how bad Canada is doing, and reminding us we had 'easier' competition.

I was at the Leafs vs Sens game for military appreciation night and he was off his rocker that game too with a hat trick. But then I must add, Shea Weber's slapshot. I know he hasn't put any through the net in these Olympics, but he's put 2 in it.

if USA women's hockey won 6-1 against Sweden then Canada should beat the Swiss by at least 9 goals,...if we are to believe the hype of Canadian hockey lore...I guess, because as American's we don't get what it means to be a Canadian hockey player or know anything about teams in Canada...why is Canada even playing RR games and semi finals? They should get an automatic bid to the Gold medal game and wait for a worthy opponent to meet them, and if said opponent isn't worthy enough, Canada should be given the Gold...heck, may as well have two Canadian teams in the Olympics and just let them play for the Gold...no one else is good enough or understands Canadian hockey...

But I wouldn't be too proud of 6 goals against Austria...over half of your offensive output against Austria.. Sure we had a 7 goal outburst, but that was against Slovakia...a MUCH better opponent than Austria.

But let's drink to a Friday matchup and when its over get back to all being Wings fans!

I have no idea what kind of team Canada is? It's the same kind of team as the USA is, a bunch of All Star NHL players...putting a Canadian sweater on Ryan Getzlaf doesn't make him any different of a player when he has a Ducks sweater on. Same can be said for Cam Fowler fort the USA.

You gave up two goals all tourney thus far, true, but you barely beat Norway and Finland. We gave up 2 goals to Russia, arguably the 3rd best team in the Olympics. You gave up 2 goals total to Finland and Norway (snicker) all while scoring 11, 6 of which came against Austria (snicker snicker.) We only gave up 4 total and scored, ready? 15 all against NHL laden teams with NHL goaltenders...

This is all meaningless, but it was one of your fellow Canadian fans who first posted that the reason Canada has struggled is that they have played higher ranked teams...which its obvious that that excuse has been blown out of the water.

Team USA and Team Canada are basically the same team. So to say I don't know what kind of team Canada is, is just wrong on all aspects. Team USA just seems to be gelling better and that could be the factor that makes the difference this year.

- Really? Slovenia is considered an "NHL laden" team? Besides Anze Kopitar who else on Team Slovenia plays in the NHL? I'll save you the trouble of looking it up, nobody else on team Slovenia plays in the NHL not a skater nor a goalie.

- I agree with you that this is all meaningless but please don't stretch the truth to prove your point, it takes credibility away from your post.

- Sadly this Canadian fan was mistaken, this is not the reason Canada has "struggled". However, the fan was 100% correct that according to the 2014 IIHF rankings, Canada (5th) has played Finland (2nd) Norway (9th) and Austria (15th) while the USA (6th) have played Russia (3rd) Slovakia (8th) Slovenia (17th). Although those rankings are complete bulls*** and not accurate in the slightest, those are in FACT the IIHF rankings.

I agree Team USA and Team Canada are essentially the same team and IF they meet in the semis it will be a great game. I hope the Canadians come out on top yet again but if they don't I won't be too upset due the fact that Team USA also have a great team that are very deserving of a shot at the Gold Medal. I'm looking forward to a great week of Hockey.

I will admit I like seeing Canada not playing to their ability because it's fun (at least from south of the border) to see you Canadians get all antsy in the pantsy (movie reference). We all know they have a good team (at least I hope that's the consensus), but I think everyone should be able to agree they should be a better team than we have seen so far, yes, we will see what happens in the elimination games because that's all that really matters in the end.

Quite honestly I wasn't happy with the Team USA that showed up against Russia (I mean we won [ugh, shootouts], but were outplayed a good portion of the game and were genuinely sloppy) and especially against Slovenia. It's almost like USA mailed it in after Kessel's first two.

Oh no worries! I was just poking fun at the whole idea 'such and such team scored more goals in previous games, which surely will mean more success going forward' that's been used a lot in this thread lol.

Regardless, I hope Canada and USA cross paths in the semi finals because it would no doubt be a classic, and anyone's game!

God I can't wait for that... I thought Canada played pretty good against Austria. Our cycle was really god all game and the boys were moving well. Just need to cash in more. Finland was lining up at the blue line all game, it was hard to watch, and Norway I thought played a really good game. They were hustling hard, and in some cases taking some pretty good runs at our guys. That takes a toll.

I wouldn't call them meaningless, because it would suck to have to play the extra game tomorrow. And that is something BOTH USA and Canadian fans will agree upon!

If it's 60-40 in Canada's favour or team USA's favour when they meet is utterly irrelevant, it's one elimination game and absolutely anything can happen.

As for people (not gonna single anyone out) hinting towards Canadians being the worst fans in hockey, I guess you all now know how people feel about most Red Wings fans. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black when it comes to entitlement.

It's also funny how the way a lot of people here are acting towards this tournament goes exactly against what the Olympics are supposed to represent in the first place

I'm actually loving it. Seeing all the divided national pride on here and knowing when the Olympics are done we all go back to being Wings fans. As long as things aren't vicious and overly insulting I think the back and forth is good fun. Oh and go USA!
