I'm actually loving it. Seeing all the divided national pride on here and knowing when the Olympics are done we all go back to being Wings fans. As long as things aren't vicious and overly insulting I think the back and forth is good fun. Oh and go USA

I was rooting for a outright Canadian lose. I don't want the Canadians to win anything ever. I could care less if we have to play them or not, because nothing is better than watching the Canadian teams lose. I have already explained that the ONLY thing that scares me about the Canadians is their D. Their O is incohesive and their goalies are nowhere near as good as Quick/Miller... As it stands, if all "top" teams advance, it will be USA v. Canada to see who goes to Gold round or Bronze round. Nothing is guaranteed and the USA could possibly lose to a very talented CZE or a SLV team set on revenge. Canada is going to have fits with the Swiss if they aren't somehow upset by Latvia.

But Flashy, to say the US is trying to avoid Canada is crap. I would love to eliminate them in whichever round we get to play them in, but like stated above, I want to see Canada lose all the time, against whoever, because it is great to see the crying that comes after and the whining... I hope to see them in the semi's, but they better get their O together because compared to the rest of their preliminary games, the USA is Omnipotent.... (not to be confused with omnipotent-hudler)

As a USA fan I'd like to see USA not **** the bed against Slovenia and secure the 3 seed, then have anything other than Canada winning in overtime happen. If Canada wins in OT I believe that puts them into 2nd place and sets up a semis match with USA. I'd much rather have that matchup project to be Sweden.

USA wants Canada at #1 for bracket purposes.

Yup...if either team wins in ot/so, they're the #2 seed, setting up a semi final match up with usa most likely. If it goes to ot, we then want Finland to win...

If the game goes to OT...Go Finland! Otherwise hoping for a Canada win in regulation.

A Finland win in regulation would be good as well. In that case Canada would play Russia in the quarters.

The only real scenario that the US should be worried about is a Canada OT/SO win. Any other result (FIN win in any manor or a CAN regulation win) would suit us favorably.

That's just from a tiny portion of that thread...Maybe Red Wing fans are a little more open to a tougher challenge on the way to gold, as I didn't see anyone posting thoughts like that here, but it seems that the wider team USA fanbase really didn't want to have to face Canada unless a medal was on the line.

I can see how you came to that conclusion, but any real fan wants to go through the best to be the best. Otherwise, what's the point? It won't be good for my heart, but I ALWAYS want a USA/Canada match. WJC. WC. Olympics. I've been waiting four years for redemption. The time is ours.

I'm with LeftWinger, I want Canada to lose every chance they get, BECAUSE of the entitlement. Having said that, I definitely want to play Canada in this tournament so I can see the maple tears fall from the heavens (and so there are no excuses). I'd prefer it was for gold, but I'll take a ticket to the gold on their backs.

You're underestimating our ability to come up with excuses....If we lose to anyone at any point in time there will ALWAYS be excuses...most of which will rightfully be incredibly hilarious to you guys.

Should be a great game...I'd put my money on the US ending Canada's streak in that one. Our team just isn't very disciplined and the US will bury a bunch if you keep giving them power plays.

If you guys want to know why people want Canada to lose at hockey, just read this thread. The entitlement runs deep. I've read several posts that have already awarded Canada gold so I don't even know why they're still playing the games since nobody else even has a chance. Talk about rose-coloured glasses.

Right, the long posts that take up every page belittling Canada, and not giving them any respect is so much better. Wanna know why the US hasn't won the gold in 30 some years, it's overly inflated egos, thinking your better at everything and no one works as hard as you. Comparing Slovenia Slovakia Norway and Austria is like arguing with a child, it's pointless, and at the end of the day you don't sound any smarter for it. Listening to Glen Healy doing commentary during this Russia/Norway game is excrutiating.

He's referred to a guy with a 30 goal NHL season as having non-existant goal scoring abilities.

He has a few times attempted and hilariously failed to use the word Ironic in a sentence.

He's beyond disrespectful of anything to do with the KHL Players. At one point he suggested getting a NHL Center Ice Package for their teams management so they can see some games played at an NHL level.

And he also makes bold predictions like, "The Ice will get worse as we get later into the period"

Even Eddie O would be better.

If he could just remember that nobody cares where every player on the team played peewee hockey I could stomach him a lot easier.
