Same story here. It's fairly sad when the most hockey-oriented place I can be is at work.

I actually had to have Hooters put the game on yesterday and she put it on CAN/LAT *gasp* then I asked her to change it and she asked if it was really that important, then I threatened to leave and she changed it. Although, once it was on, everyone was watching it.

I've watched every game alone in my dorm room because nobody else cares enough to wake up at 7:30 to watch a sport they know nothing about.. people on my floor were watching figure skating yesterday during the noon game.

On the news here in Columbus, the anchor said he didn't know who to cheer for in the USA-Russia game because bobrovski was in net for Russia.

I wonder if Babs defensive minded strategies are what stifle the teams scoring, theres really no excuse for a lack of goal scoring with Canadas roster. It just doesnt make sense.

All this makes me question Babs as the Wings coach. Not necessarily in a bad way per say, it just seems an odd coincidence that babs coached teams cant score. Puzzling indeed.

My guess is it's more or less what it looks like: he wants good team defense (to a man) more than anything else. Defense, defense, defense, defense, defense, defense, defense, defense, defense. Defense. (Defense.) And he's basically said as much (see, for example, his comments about Trust being all-important to him). Players who play for him know: "Oh man, I could totally pinch here and it's almost certainly a goal. But, no. Coach would kill me."

Thanks! I agree. Ive played my whole life, not on any uber competitive level, just for fun. But ive had a couple coaches that are like that, they beat something into your head so hard you find yourself not playing your game and your performamce suffers. This is what i believe plagues guys like Brendan Smith for example, the most.

i have managed to stay clear of LGW for the last 3 weeks.
Mostly because of vacation but also because
from the looks of things its been pretty intense.

Wings fans unite to show support of their countries.
That is all well and good, but in all seriousness i can't
wait until olympic hockey is over and we can get back
to the NHL hockey.

Seriously though... the refs have given the Fins THREE power plays so far in less than one period, including a 1:30+ 5 on 3.
