Fantastic then.

One would think you'd be a little quicker to pick up on something so tongue-in-cheek given your obvious affinity for snide derision.  Having an off day?

GMRwings:  "Well, in other civilized countries, 16 years old isn't considered underage.  For instance, I believe the age of consent is 16 in Canada.  There's some US states where it's 16 as well.

Get off the high horse.  Not like she was 10."

"Some girls are 17 even though they look 25."

Just no reason to continue, really. Looking forward to the Women's Gold Medal game.

I've got no derision for you brother.

Women's hockey started.  US coach is winningest women's coach.  Canadian goalie undefeated.  Should be interesting.

Can't wait to read the "Phoenix: I still think it's a hockey market" chapter of Gary Bettman's autobiography. I'm guessing it's going to be chapter 11.

Canada's team has 5 women over 30; US average age is 23.  All are college-trained, most in the US.

US has first PP.

Do Canadians (myself included) already have a built in excuse if they lose?  If Stamkos and Tavares weren't injured........

I absolutely hate excuses, but you konw they will be flying if Canada loses

We already knew that Stamkos was a ?? for the tournament.  Tavares was a 4th liner half the time anyways.  I think there's guys that should have been on the team over guys that are on the team, but there's a team there and if they lose tomorrow, the only excuse is that the American team played better and wanted it more.

@cotsonika: SWE captain Niklas Kronwall on CAN-USA: "It's going to be a tight game, but I think that maybe the U.S. will take this one."

Captain Kronner has spoken.

Maybe that's just who he "wants" to play for gold. ;)

3 penalties thus far - 2 PP for US, 1 for CAN.  Great PKs by both.

From NHL:

New York Islanders captain John Tavares sustained a torn MCL and torn meniscus in his knee Wednesday at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and will miss the remainder of the NHL season.

Tavares may need surgery; he is expected to be ready by training camp in September.

I wish they let these women hit.  They would be destroying each other right now.

No excuses if Canada loses, regardless of who is hurt. Any Canada fan who has an excuse is a loser. A loser and a whiny baby.

It would be different if they'd lost 4 forwards in the tournament and had to go with 3 lines VS the USA, but that's not the case. Canada has lost ONE player ... that's it.

Regardless of the outcome, I'm expecting Sidney Crosby to pull an Ellen Page right after the tournament ... not that there's anything wrong with that.

I don't understand that rule.  There were a few women in the league I used to play in, and they were tougher than a lot of the guys.

Oh this young man has had a very trying rookie season, with the litigation, the notoriety, his subsequent deportation to Canada and that country's refusal to accept him, well, I guess that's more than most 21-year-olds can handle... Ogie Ogilthorpe!

The Canadian goalie has a 1-2 record against the USA ... she's hardly undefeated.

NBC announcers were my source.  That was my mistake.
