I woulda have a pick and prospect for vanek or moulson. Would be a lot more help then this old useless legwand. Needed a dman. Did not help the team much got a center to fill in the 3 we have injured. I rather have Andy first line center. Hopefully we miss the playoffs. Holland fail

Legwand and Weiss make each other expendable. I'm not to pumped about having them both on the roster when we are healthy.

by that time, it'll be the off-season and we can either a) not re-sign Legwand b) trade Weiss.

The Legwand move is purely to fill our IMMEDIATE need at center. Let's not pretend this deal was anything but that.

Bob McKenzie retweeted someone who said there's another buffalo trade coming through. I would assume its ehrhoff

Sorry if someone else already mentioned this

Let's not assume anything. Could be Stewart. Could be Halak. Could be Myers. Could be Tallinder.

So how long are GMs allowed till they have to finish their trade conversation now?

I think they have to have the actual details of the deal turned into the league by 3:00 pm EST... they can keep talking on the phone, but they have to have it turned in to the league.

Sure we could've got vanek or moulson.. just probly would've had to give up Mantha. Thanks but no thanks.. Legwand will do for now

Who says? If we are giving up a second or third round pick, Mantha stays right where he is.

Legwand is a natural center and much, much better defensively than either Vanek or Moulson. That's probably a big part of why we got him instead of the other two. Vanek and Moulson would definitely be rentals. But I can see Legwand re-signing if he doesn't want too much money.

At the same time though, I don't see how Weiss and Legwand can both be on the team next season if Pavel/Z/Helm are healthy.

He's 33, has 40 points on the season which puts him 2nd overall on Detroit in totals behind Zetterberg. Not sure where the unfounded anger about this move is all about. I don't see Andersson finishing 40 points total by the end of the season.

Sorry, pure speculation on my part. I just imagine the generic "prospect" label to trades of this caliber means a top prospect and not just a pretty promising one.. just my opinion, and if that's the case, I'd rather welcome legwand and hold onto Mantha. Edited by amato

IF we're that stacked at Center... we can trade one and some prospects for our much needed D-man in the offseason.
