Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

Says who?!?! Jarnkrok has been our top prospect for years until Mantha came. Per THN and RWC. This year he struggled but even then they were saying his potential landed him between Filppula and Zetterberg and his floor was Legwand.

Says hockey prospects website. Besides, we have had better prospects in the system that have actually panned out. Nyquist and Tatar come to mind. Pulkkinen comes to mind as well who is actually tearing it up as a member of the Griffins. I am not saying that Jarnkrok isn't a good prospect, but just that people here are putting him up on a pedestal as being the best prospect we have, and thats disingenuous.

WHO EVER THINK WERE THAT MUCH BETTER TODAY THAN WE WERE YESYERDAY BEFORE THE DEVILS GAME, THINK TWICE... The only reason Holland panicked because helm got injured and the diagnosis on Pavel was a few weeks..... This is just a patch to continue playoff streak. In no way helps us for the future, EVEN IF WE DO RESIGN LEGWAND...

Even if Jarnkrok IS leaving for Sweden next year this is still a HUGE overpayment. Way too much of a risk. Eaves a third and Ferraro would have been more than fair.

If he decides he likes it in Nashville this trade is very likely going to haunt us for years.

True that Ferraro and a third would have been better, but that last bit about haunting us for years is a little bombastic, isn't it? I don't spend any time watching prospects in the minors, so I'm not well-informed on jarnkrok's talent...but is he really that good? It just seems like lots of people are ready to jump off the ledge right now - I know it's an accumulation of Holland's inactivity, but still. It's one trade.

On a positive note, "Welcome home, David!"

15 seasons in nashville and the guy finally gets to go home,Treat him well red wings fans,Hopefully he come back to retire as a nashville predator,so we can hang his #11 in the rafters at bridgestone arena

Consider this:

Why would one of the better AHL prospects go home if they can make more money here and get a place on the big club soon? The Predators need offensive help their D and goaltending are set so it's not like he wouldn't have chance there. If he is indeed set on going back this deal would be better but till that happens I am not buying it.

Ok, I'm reading all of this trade bashing. Can someone tell me exactly what Jarnkrok has done on the NHL level that makes this so outraging? He's 3rd on the Griffs in points. Yes, he shows some promise...it get it. I get the "young talent", "ton of potential" thing...but has anyone looked at our current roster?? We are extremely heavy on really young guys. Our brass has said (and done well with for the most part) the theory on experienced players and their being counted on to perform in the playoffs. We knew if we wanted to get any player today, we would have to give up a piece of our young talent. So....am I outraged that we lost Calle Jarnkrock in a trade today...not really....in fact, I think looking at all of our young talent losing a soft Euro with the proverbial "great hands", who has hinted that he wants to go home to Sweden and play, is actually a decent price to play for a veteran like Legwand.

There has to be something about Jarnkrok we are not aware off. Despite what other say : Holland is no fool. And it would be a damn foolish trade if he traded one of our Top5 prospects + something for a UFA-rental, even with the injuries we have.

So whats the conspiricy on the Quincey fleecing than?

Yeah,Legwand wasn't elite at Calle's age either,let alone now

Calle hasn't played in the NHL yet. Legwand is leading his team in scoring. I guess we will see in 5-10 years after Calle has enough experience. Until then, its just as I said, people here propping him up like he is the next Wayne Gretzky. He is an above average prospect with zero NHL experience.

Holland is a fool. Playoffs this year appear to be more important than the future. We could have played Jarnkrok, tanked, got a top 10 pick. Drafted another top C prospect. Came back year after healthy and cut ties with old s***ty players, then we would be in a great situation. Instead we will fail once again to draft a top C prospect AND trade away the only one we have! Holland has no plan for the future of our C's clearly. We have to hold out hope Sheahan becomes a 1C and Andersson all of a sudden learns to skate and becomes a 2C.

I am convinced that people here are more pissed off that Holland didn't trade scraps to get legit talent. No team wants our crap for solid NHL players.

Here is a hint people.....

You have to give up talent to get talent.

I think a big factor on whether this was a terrible move or not hinges on where Legwand re-signs in the offseason.

I think people generally overrate our prospects here, but if this really is just a 20 game rental then Holland sure gave up a lot.

Jarnkrok wasn't making Detroit next year. Sheahan has passed him up obviously and Jarnkrok isn't a 4th line guy. Not his game.

So what if he plays for Nashville? He wasn't going to play for us. If he makes Nashville's club good for him, they are in a different conference. No harm.

Harold, I know we have had our differences in the past, but I cannot like this post enough.

While I agree many of us overrate our own prospects, Jarnkrok is the best center prospect in our entire system.

Unless he's going to Sweden for sure next year, I don't think it really matters what Legwand does or not. We should have been able to get him with another prospect instead.
