@nightfall ROFL #1 center only hitting 60 points once and 50 points once??? Stop it get serious

What other C, or ANY player for that matter, that got traded today that would've been a better fit as a #1 C?

Vanek isn't a C.

Moulson isn't a C.

Tim Thomas isn't a C.

What other options were there?

Thank you. That is easily one of the deepest center positions in the league.

The issue with this:

2 of those centers have extensive histories of injuries over the last few seasons, 1 is starting to get injured more often on top of it,

3 of those centers are over 30

2-3 of those centers are still suspect offensively, and cant be counted on to center a top line now, or possibly ever.

Now all this being said, Jarnkrok may never turn into a top 6 center, but he has more upside than Sheahen, Andersson, and Helm. Right now he is younger and healthier than Zetterberg and Weiss, and by virtue of the last CBA as a new player, he's pretty much the team's slave until his late 20s, as such, he's safer than counting on Datsyuk or Zetterberg in the long view.

Holland threw a band-aid on the situation in hopes of making the playoffs. This team has SO many issues primarily D that how the hell does he hope to win the cup? We can't keep the puck out of our net in the final minutes of periods so that bodes terribly for playoffs.

Okay, so looks like the rumor that he is bolting back to Sweden is bull.

This was as bad a trade as it seemed. Our best center prospect traded for a guy who will probably retire in a few years.

Just don't get it.

Detroit got a proven commodity and gave up a prospect who probably won't even make the team for another 2 years.

I don't get it either and I don't see how people can say he will be useful to us in next 3 years...

Maybe Holland felt he had to overpay because we badly needed a center and there weren't any other options out there, and Nashville knew this as well so they wouldn't let him go for cheap.

Has it ever occurred to anyone crying and bitching that, maybe teams ask for more from the Wings than any other teams. We have been a dominate organization for years and others wanna see us fail so they up the ante in trades to make us give up more talent than other teams they are talking to. Wings will make the playoffs and be fine. I personally think it would be best to miss the playoffs going forward. This team will push and make the playoffs though others will step up with all the injuries.

Legwand had a NTC - its not like other teams were asking really. Holland had a sitting duck and he botched the kill brutally. Preds would have lost him for nothing in the offseason - holland had all kinds of leverage.

Either that or the assistant GM isn't doing his job.

Just last year, Jiri Fischer said Jarnkrok is probably the best prospect in our organization. If he's not leaving for Sweden, this is just an embarrasingly awful trade.

He was #1 center for better part of his career in Nashville albeit a defensive.minded team...

So #1 center on Team A means he is #1 center on Team B after he is traded? Great assumption.

Guest Playmaker

Upon further review, I don't think this is as bad as it may appear. Eaves wasn't playing and is an UFA also. From all I've heard about Jarnkrok, it was a struggle just to get him over to NA in the first place and he hasn't really been all that happy here. In addition, he's really small. Like a buck sixty and sounds like he wasn't crazy about putting on weight. So if he does go back to Sweden, we essentially swapped a UFA Winger for a UFA center and a pick.

The day would have been better for me if we had added a defenseman. But considering the injury situation at center, I guess this isn't as horrendous as it seemed at first glance.

He could, and from most reports of him, will be everything that Legwand is and more after those two years tho. Its why trading Schenn for Kesler made no sense. You only make trades like that when you're one move away from a Cup. This is a bandade on a grenade wound.
