3/9 GDT: Red Wings at Rangers

What has Jimmy done since those three left?

2.13 GAA, .923 save percentage last regular season. Easily the biggest reason the Red Wings made the playoffs at all. Followed that up with a 2.44 GAA and .924 save percentage against the top two seeds in the West. Mind you, all in front of a makeshift defense.

So nothing, if you only want to look at Jimmy's struggles this season like he has never bailed the Red Wings out before or proven his worth.

I agree he was outstanding last year and through the playoffs, but I just hope that wasn't a flash in the pan. He hasn't been very good this year, and with sports, it's always a what have you done for me lately attitude.

yep and cannot ever make that one save they need at the right moment. D is struggling, but our goaltending is downright abysmal...

What make the matter more pressing this year is that now he's the 3rd highest paid guy on the team behind Dats and Z. Currently, he's the highest paid guy on the roster. He has been far from our best player most nights and his league-wide numbers speak for themselves. I have faith that he'll be able to turn it around, but it's tough to defend his play this year thus far. It's been a tough run any way you shake it.

Lots of Howard bashing going on, and I'll be the first to admit that he's had a bad year; but let's not act like playing Gus is some magic potion that will turn this team into an unstoppable juggernaut.

We have won more games with Gus but every time he wins a game, the next day he ends up on the IR. Even if Babs wanted to start him more, with his injury history it's almost impossible. And let's not forget the NJ game Gus almost cost us the game in less then three minutes. Not exactly unstoppable.

Having said all that, I don't think it much matters who's in goal. Cause on any given night there is no telling which team will show up either the one we saw against NJ, a team that has fire and the will to win, or the team we saw today. Inconsistently thy name is Red Wings.

How can you put up stats like those and never make a clutch save? The goalie is struggling now and defense is still atrocious, just like last season. Except Jimmy hasn't been able to bail them out as often.

I missed the third due to my washer leaking water all over the floor. Seems like I didn't miss much other than a bad loss.

Franzen took the afternoon off, and Howard couldn't make a save with Quincey in front of him. Everyone else on the team had the best 3rd of their careers. Typical stuff.

Lots of excuses. Bottom line is Howard has been not very good this whole season, Mule shows up for a couple of games then will return after 10-15 games, the defense has been questionable since Lids, Raffi, and Stuart left, and the heart and soul of this team Datsyuk and Z are out long term. Ken Holland needs to hit a grand slam this off season and get this team back to being a contender or be shown the door. If we were still in the west we would be dead last.

So would all the other teams that are battling for a playoffs spot in the east and the difference is that none of them have been nearly as injured as the Red Wings have been this year. Fact is, if the Wings get into the playoffs, which I think they will, and Pav and Hank are back, then that will be the worst nightmare for whoever is in first place. A healthy Red Wings team can easily compete with the Pens or the Bruins and to think otherwise is silly.

Yeah, freakin' bipolar. I'm not too worried about the East, we have shown that even injured we can beat the good teams. I don't think we'd run into real problems until the Conference finals. The trouble is getting in.

Haha bounce back? Mule and nyquist are the laziest players on our team, that's why they're first line. They will never bounce back, they are slumping and suck

I know you're being sarcastic, but I'll point out for everyone else; they've combined for 11 points and 28 shots since the Olympics..
