miksteri 55 Report post Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) "Maybe Ryan Haggerty will be the next coming of Rod Gilbert, who is pretty much the only explosive goal-scorer on the wing developed by the Rangers over the past six decades, and the organization does need to compensate for the first-round draft choices it sent away for Rick Nash and Martin St. Louis. Being aggressive in the college free-agent market represents a way to do that. But the accommodation the organization made in order to sign the 21-year-old Haggerty out of RPI last week — guaranteeing him a spot on the NHL roster for the remainder of the season — sure seems like a dangerous precedent to set. What’s next, signing a free agent — NHL, college, or otherwise — to a contract that includes the stipulation of first-power-play ice time?" http://nypost.com/2014/03/15/youngster-haggertys-no-send-down-clause-just-puzzling/ Edited March 16, 2014 by miksteri
sleepwalker 512 Report post Posted March 16, 2014 Didn't Brunner want some sort of similar guarantee of playing on the top lines? I thought that was one of, if not the, main reason he didn't want to sign here.

Euro_Twins 4,469 Report post Posted March 16, 2014 How does some undrafted college kid get an offer from an nhl team and somehow he controls the terms. He should be grateful that nhl team took interest in him 3 years after he wasn't drafted

wings87 1,290 Report post Posted March 16, 2014 Hey, if the Rangers are willing to guarantee him a roster spot; good for him.
Guest Playmaker Report post Posted March 16, 2014 I wouldn't be all that surprised if the same thing happened with DeKeyser, although more off the record. With all the clamoring from so many teams for his services, you know he wasn't going to play in GR.

With all the clamoring from so many teams for his services, you know he wasn't going to play in GR. I thought that was apart of the deal he wanted. He wanted to play on an nhl team not an ahl team. I might be wrong though.
frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted March 16, 2014 Nothing wrong with such a deal but to me the way more important thing would be getting a NMC/NTC asap. That way a player even at such a young age can control his destiny if things aren't going well for him. As for Danny I cringe everytime trying to imagine how this defense would be looking without him.
