About as good of a period as you can hope for given the discrepancy in talent. The Wings were bad at getting the puck out of their own end, though.

I agree. It all of a sudden looks like we stopped skating...

It was like someone flipped off the switch.

I just wish I could hear Ken and Mick's beautiful voices. Having to watch the Pitt stream sucks.

Possibly the sloppiest period we've ever played.

If luke glendening can keep sidney off the board im inclined to say his lack of scoring might not matter so much.

I like his fire, I have a feeling he'll find his scoring touch

Meh, they are doing a good job getting in the way of shooting lanes and keeping them to the outside. We'll start seeing more pretty hockey when we get players back lol

Really? The Penguins had one great chance off a bad turnover.  Other than that, the Wings are moving the puck, they scored, and they're playing solid defense. I've seen far, far worse.

Maybe it just seems worse because of the high end talent Pittsburgh could spring loose at any minute, but in reality I think they're doing really good.

Exactly, any period we keep Crosby, Neal, Kunitz and Malkin off the score sheet is a well played period. To come off with a lead makes it that much better.

It was a very, very sloppy first 20 mins. I'm mostly talking about the d-zone, of course. We were ok in the o-zone, but didn't generate much in the way of scoring chances.

I'm pretty sure you just described 65.779% of all Wings games this season

I'm not hating on the team. I'm happy to be up by one. I don't honestly believe it was literally the sloppiest period we've ever played. But it was really ugly. I'll certainly take the lead going into the second period. But it was ugly. (Which is understandable. I'm not holding it against them, given that this is the Penguins vs. the Griffins.) That's all I'm saying.

So I'm guessing everybody whose been ragging on Alfie recently is going to come out and say that their criticism of his game since the Olympic break was unwarranted and uncalled for now that he scored a couple :bye: ???

I never played past Juniors.
