Ok - a bit off topic here...

The last sentence got me thinking (a rare occurrence indeed); I noticed Mr. Ilitch was not at Nick's retirement...Something going on with his health?

He was at home recovering from a surgery or something like that.

Have they announced the night of the Nyquist number retirement ceremony yet? I want to get tickets.

Well, he's in his mid 80's, and I remember hearing somewhere that he wasn't doing too good (who would at his age?)

According to my profile, my reputation is excellent. LOL.

This...

I like players who are abrasive, and can get their opponents off their game.

And he's not dirty.  That's another +.

This game has turned cold, clinical and calculated.  We'll see what happens.  It's not over.

Don't worry everyone, Franzen's about to go off in the third.  Calling it.  Season changing period right here, and Franzen's going to be the catalyst.

I'm holding you to it.

At the very least, we can say that Nyquist beat Malking to 20 goals.  Malkin has 21 now. but Goose won the race and in way less games.  There's a positive.

Will I get to see a Bertuzzi vs. Bortuzzo fight sometime before I quit this world?

None of the defensemen can hit the net. I think they've been playing too much soccer instead of practicing.

I'm sure when Malkin is polishing another Cup ring and Nyquist is at home golfing in mid April, that will somehow not matter.

A huge difference between these two teams is the blue line.  Even when Detroit's forwards are tearing it up you have Quincey and Kindle afraid to barely straddle the blue line.  Our D is totally un-offensive and timid.  Worse, they aren't good at defense either.  Look at the penns on the blue line and you might see why this team hasn't won a cup in over half a decade.

Average save by Howard. But no, he can't make the big save at all.

It should be shaming that a player of such high quality has only 21 goals

Have you guys noticed how many other teams have benefited from the "lively" boards at the Joe. You rarely see the Wings bank one off the boards as much as the other teams do it.

I would fire Holland just for that one trade.  Kyle Quincey for a 1st rounder looked back even when it was made.  This isn't hindsight being 20/20 mind you, it was a bad trade from the very beginning.

Milan Lucic thinks not.

You know why Howard is average?  Because every time he actually makes a big save, someone like you makes a post about how "average" he is.

If he was above average and consistent, none of these conversations would exist.  I mean, do Montreal fans or LA fans talk about how "average" their goalie is each time he makes a big save?  I doubt it.  There's no need to make a point with those guys.
