Around The League - Eastern Conference Playoff Race

At this point, checking the standings on TSN, 93 points gets our guys a playoff spot if everyone else wins out. Each point left on the table by TOR, WAS, CBJ, and NJ will lower it.

The win against BOS was huge, as most were writing the game off or hoping to steal a point. It isn't a lock yet to continue the streak, but it is looking pretty darn good at this point.

As others have said, it is unfortunate they do top three seeds by division then wildcard as the way things are going, the boys would have had a shot at getting the 6 seed under the old system.

That said, if they hold off CBJ and get the 7 seed, I like their chances. The emergence of the kid line is going to give the opposition d conniption fits if Z and Pav can come back healthy in the playoffs. Howie was back in form against Boston, and you can definitely make a case that he stole the game.

unfortunately this doesn't matter due to the new format - have to catch the habs/tampa to get out of the wild cards

Yeah, I know... but for a while there we were just scratching, clawing, and holding on to 8th.

It's nice to see us putting together some wins, grabbing up some points and catching up to Philly and the Rags.

Don't get too comfortable, guys. We won three games, right? That means, if this season's pattern holds, we will drop the next two, maybe three. Lets us finish the season winning a couple games, though. If the pattern holds.

April 4 - Buffalo

April 5 - @Montreal

April 8 - @Buffalo

April 9 - @Pittsburgh

April 11 - Carolina

April 13 - @St. Louis

Those two home games are MUST WINS.

I actually like the fact that 3 of those 4 road games are going to be hard fought.

A real test for the playoffs.

Keep the foot on the gas, boys.

BUF is @STL today, and @DET tomorrow - that should improve the odds of us beating them even more.

The CBJ vs PHI game is gonna be a good one, as well as the BOS vs TOR.

Bruins and Leafs tied at one near the end of the first.

Flames up 2-0 on the Bolts, not sure what period.

Flyers and Jackets tied in the second.

Hurricanes up 3-0 on the Stars in the second.

Hurricanes seem to be clicking. Good thing we got those two points last night, as I'm not sure we win our game against the Hurricanes.

Actually, this is kind of interesting. The Flyers seem to have cooled off quite a bit, so much so that they might be in a legitimate funk right now. So, their final six opponents:

@ Bruins

Sabres

@ Panthers

@ Lightning

@ Penguins

Hurricanes

The Jackets are going to finish strong and make the playoffs. We know this. They came up a hair short last season, and they're not gonna let it happen for a second straight season. If they can bump the Flyers for the third spot in the Metro, and if the Flyers continue to stumble, that might make the wild card race even more interesting than it already is. Especially for Pens fans. lol

The Jackets are scary man. Just one of those teams that play super tight and score off your mistakes and turnovers and have a great goalie too. They're a nightmare first round match up.
