Im thinking the ref saw that he was in trouble and was going to call the play dead but they popped the puck in before he could whistle it down. The old intent to blow rule.

I was at that game last night...It was brutal..blood was on the ice, teeth...poor kid. I could only assume the goal was called back for goaltender interference - they never did say why.
