You guys are forgetting Malkin didn't play. Not sure if he's going to be ready for the playoffs or not but he's an ENORMOUS factor. I would have loved the win to cap off a great night though. 23 years it is. Go Wings!

f*** Malkin all he's good for is diving and acting stupid after the game is over. ;)

It's winnable without Z. It'll have to be too as I don't think he could or should rush back.

Oh, I agree. Should've worded it differently. It'd be winnable with him in the same way that making the playoffs was doable with Datsyuk returning. He's not necessarily needed, but it'd be a huge lift.

So, basically, a truism.

I don't care who we play Im confident we could take both pits or bos we got a great 4th line and the kids will do great

Now that's what I'm talking about. Gotta have some faith and not get scared of the big bad bruins or penguins, we are the Detroit Frickin Red Wings. And the beautiful thing is, no damn shootouts in the playoffs baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're forgetting Cleary will be back in the playoffs.

This is the time of year he lives for. He doesn't care about the rest of the season. He rises to the occasion in the clutch, when most of us would fail under similar pressure.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not because it's tough to keep track of who you hate, though it's usually most of the guys. But in an effort to try and take the idea seriously for the sake of a point, I would agree with you in other years, but I'm really not sure Cleary has much left in his tank at this point. I've never hated the guy like some here, and I agree that he has potential to be clutch and out-battle the odds to be a factor in some big games, but I have a hard time believing his knees will be up to the task this year. And is he really coming back? I thought they said a week ago or so that he wasn't even close...?

But we were playing for our lives, they were playing because the schedule said they had a game tonight.

Fair enough. We'd certainly be the underdog, and I wouldn't expect a Wings triumph. But these Pens seem to be tumbling into the playoffs, almost like they know this isn't their year.

I don't care who we play in the playoffs. If our team plays like they did tn they will win more often then not. I thought our Dmen were all outstanding tn and Smith was the best one. The Kids were fantastic again and Gus was okay in net. We win this game with Howie in I think but overall monster did make some nice saves. My only real complaint is franzen who just continues to float around if that continues babs needs to give pav someone better to work with.

Lastly I find it hilarious how the pens always seem to get favored by the refs that's why part of me would rather play Boston in the first round. Kudos to fleury for looking like Dom out there tn. I know everyone wants to play the pens cuz of how fleuery is in the playoffs but I think he is gonna play for something to prove this year so let's just play who we play and worry about it then. Congrats to the wings for making it 23 years just like my age :)

Last time we played Pittsburgh in the playoffs, we had Lidstrom neutralizing Crosby. That's the one factor at play here that worries me about the Pens. I feel like they're a team that can be beat, but it's going to be very, very hard for this team. Nyquist, Franzen, Tatar and Legwand are going to have to really contribute to the scoring, because Datsyuk is going to likely get tasked with staying on Crosby at all times.

Glendening and helm have done a great job these last two games but then there's Malkin and Neal
