Playoff playlist - song recommendations

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

This evening I'm going to be putting together my first playoff playlist of the season. Does anyone have any suggestions (other than the obligatory 'Detroit Rock City' or 'Don't Stop Believin')? Songs that get you pumped for the Red Wings when you listen to them on the way to work in the morning, on the way home, or blasting from your home stereo the 15 minutes prior to puck drop? Preferably something about slaying bears/bruins? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Edit: Good grief, I evidently don't know how to title a post. Can anyone help me change the title?

Stick with Detroit artists.

Classic pump-up rock song: White Stripes - "Seven Nation Army"

Awesome bad-ass rap song: Danny Brown - "Side A (Old)"

and some advice for the Wings: Madonna "Respect Yourself"

Then, when we're up 3-1 on Boston you can play: Marvin Gaye "What's Going On?"

Dropkick Murphys - The Boys are Back

Kidrock - American Badass

Linkin Park - Crawlin

Korn - Alone I break (for penalties against the Wings)

Linkin Park - Bleed it out

Metallica - End of the Line

Bullet for my Valentine - Hand of Blood

Korn - Make me Bad

Nickelback - Side of a Bullet

also a very good workout playlist

Filter - "hey man nice shot" is another original, not really one of my favorites though.

older song from Alter Bridge called "Isolation" has some pretty wild parts to it. reminds me of flying down the lodge on my way to nemo's with a crown and coke in hand...

no i dont encourage drinking and driving, just sayin

Nothing from Aerosmith, The Cars, Boston, or The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, as they're all from Boston...

Anything from Yellowcard, since their guitarist Ryan Mendez (@RyanMendez on twitter) is a die hard Red Wings fan.

I can't imagine The Mighty Mighty Bosstones would have any "pump up" music lol

Now if you were to say the Dropkick Murphys...

I know they are from Boston but some of their songs are just made for hockey. Another thing I love about our sport most hardrock/new-metall and metal songs are just matching so well other sports can't say the same thing (nascar with country being the exception):)

You see me and you laugh out loud
You taunt me from safe inside your crowd
My looks, they must threaten you
To make you act the way you do

Red, I'm seeing red
I'm seeing red
I'm seeing red
I'm seeing red

You see me and you think I'm a jerk
First impressions without a word
You can't believe your eyes at first
But now you know you've seen the worst

Red, I'm seeing red
I'm seeing red
I'm seeing red
I'm seeing red

Red, I'm seeing red
I'm seeing red
I'm seeing

---Minor Threat, "Seeing Red" from Complete Discography

The more I think about it the more I believe that if you play anything today other than Michigan music you're ******* up. I listen to a huge amount of music at work, and I'm making a vow to you all that I will not listen to ANYTHING not made in Michigan. Starting with these guys...

Thanks everybody!

So here's the playlist I have as of this morn:

(let me preface this by mentioning I am a huge 90's metal fan):

-Slayer: Reign In Blood

-Trick Trick ft. Eminem: Detroit City

-Journey: Don't Stop Believing

-Kiss: Detroit Rock City

-Eminem ft. Nate Dogg (RIP) - 'Til I Collapse

-Pantera: Walk (RIP Dimebag)

-Kid Rock: Detroit, Michigan

-Iron Maiden: Number Of The Beast (Listened to this for Holmstrom many moons ago- we would chant '96', The Number of the Beast)

-Ministry: Bad Blood

-The Offspring: Million Miles Away (due to an EPIC drunken convo with Johan Franzen at a San Jose bar)

...many more to be added!
