Wings_Toledo 233 Report post Posted April 19, 2014 Well, after 1 period I think it's safe to say that if we play our game we definitely have a shot at winning this series. Bruins are getting away with a lot of mugging and crosschecks that I hope will be called when we get different refs. 1 Crashnburnluder reacted to this
CaliforniaWingsFan 464 Report post Posted April 19, 2014 Bruins are hitting very high. Two ******* elbows right to Nyquist's head at the end there. I like the game with minimal penalties, but they will continue to do that if they know they can get away with it. On a bright note, the Wings look like they belong here. LGW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Screw you Chara! 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted April 19, 2014 Best way to deal with Bostons physicality is to hit back, but don't retaliate. Keep the speed and skill game going.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted April 19, 2014 Look pretty good. Puck is bouncing like crazy. Rask giving up juicy rebounds, but we have to crash the net. This is where Jurco and Sheahan can shine. They're being cute and I'm not sure its working. They need someone crashing to scoop up the rebounds. Both teams look strong. Detroit weathered the storm really well. Great team defense and man coverage. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2 2 sjr2012 and themcityblues reacted to this
themcityblues 249 Report post Posted April 19, 2014 "A little bit out of the Bruin's book" @ Jurco's play. Awesome, that short fat dude with the little head has earned a little respect "in my book".
TheXym 2,606 Report post Posted April 19, 2014 Got in a bit late, but what I've seen is positive. Howie coming out to clear the puck looked good, Jurco had a good hit, paying Krejci back for some of Boston's shenanigans. What happened before Chara took the penalty for hitting Smith from behind? derblaueClaus 1,668 Report post Posted April 19, 2014 It was interesting to see that the Wings try to get trough the neutral zone with long passes. Makes sense with the the slow D-Lines the Bruins dress. 1 datterberg1340 reacted to this
beachwing 426 Report post Posted April 19, 2014 All this headhunting and high s*** is bulls***. Homer glasses aside, i hate that head hunts and potentialy putting someone out of a series is tolerated. Hockey is physical and dangerous enough without all the headshots. themcityblues 249 Report post Posted April 19, 2014 At the end of the Heinekin commercial you can see the actor change a few times. At the very end with the table dance the guy is clearly Japanese. Anybody else notice that? It's weird how they play these things off like nobody will notice. 1 TheXym reacted to this

Don't give them the chance to heat up and get the players and crowd going. We saw some of it during the last minute of the 1st.

themcityblues 249 Report post Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) They are double and triple teaming on hits. They are more concerned about getting the hit in, rather than getting to the loose puck. Need to take advantage of it. Yeah, which seems pretty short-sighted. The B's are already a tough team. They won't win the series by "being [even] tougher" against Detroit. But perhaps it's the media putting so much focus on the "Big Bad Bruins" as opposed to something inside the B's locker room. Yet the B's are going for all these dumb hits and you know later in the game it's going to cost them some huge scoring opportunities when a Wing blows by the body or the B is caught out of position. Also the B's look fairly slow and rattled after the first. They don't really look that good to me. Definitely a 117pt regular season team (big bodies, grinding physical play...) but that does not unilaterally result in a cup winner. wings4thecup06 504 Report post Posted April 19, 2014 Fingers crossed but a good all round first period IMO. I thought the wings let themselves get a bit hemmed in early doors but recovered nicely.
