Howard set the tone again with a weak goal, but that isn't my biggest issue tonight. No jump, no speed, laid over and died tonight. The entire team should be embarrasses. For the love of god i dont want to see any howard clips either.

You mean after Boston stopped playing and just sat back on their lead? Yeah he's been just great since he threw away our chance to win in the first period.

Shutout or nothing is an arrogant expectation of any fan towards a goalie. Considering the odd man rushes, the scoring chances, and Howard making over 30 saves he played damn well and it could have been a lot worse. He's among the last I blame for the loss, scoring 2 goals in 3 games so far and blaming the goalie is ridiculous.

Howard is the only reason why we won game 1 or we would be facing a 0-3 series right now. Howard is the only reason why we still had some kind of chance in the 3rd period this game, if it was Monster, we are down 4-0 going into the 3rd.

Howard has been excellent since the first goal, he's given us a chance to get back in this. Doesn't matter if it's 1-0 or 10-0, it's still a loss if we can't score a goal.

I've been fairly supportive of Howard relative to his struggles this year, but two games in a row he singlehandedly gave Boston early leads. It's clear that the goals aren't coming easy for us, so to give up such awful goals early on is just completely unacceptable. He's well into his career now and is getting paid top-10 goalie money; he can't do what he's done in these last two games. It doesn't matter how well he plays the rest of the game. When you're stuck playing from behind against a team like Boston with such a young team at that, you're asking for trouble.

Now I'm not saying he singlehandedly lost the games for us. Obviously you need to score goals too. But again, Howard is singlehandedly the reason why we gave up two early leads, and that's just no way to start games against a team like Boston. Given his status, his contract, and the build and make of this particular team, he needs to be leading and steadying the ship early, not forcing a team full of rookies to play from behind.

I want to like Howard and I have for some time, and I can agree that he played well today after giving up the two first period goals, but it's really, really hard to overlook the way he's started these last couple games given that it's the playoffs. I think it's safe to say that he's worn out his "grace" goals for this series. He needs to be competing all the way through and not be giving Boston any more easy goals, especially early on.

Wings shut out in embarrassing fashion on home ice to go down 2 games to 1. Of course that's never happened before and means they obviously won't win the series. It's not like it happened, oh, like last season against the Ducks or anything. I thought that game was the most pathetic performance ever? Wings fans sure have short memories.

Sorry but that's complete BS, Howard didn't even have to break a sweat after the first two goals, Boston stopped pushing and barely had a decent chance after that and why should they? He'd already given them enough.

Granted he is far from the only problem, the rest of the team played like crap too but this team is never going anywhere with mr unclutch Howard.

I actually feel kind of stupid for thinking the Wings could probably win this series after the first game. I picked the Bruins anyway so I'm not shocked. You knew the Wings had inconsistencies all year long. Bruins are just the better team and the funny thing that I noticed is it doesn't even look like they're trying that hard. We're definitely missing Zetterberg though.

Bravo! Howard is not Hasek. That said, 8 or 10 odd man rushes allowed, and the Wings had none, one? 4 shots in a period and a half?

If you cannot score a goal, you cannot win. Simple as that. Lose by 2 or 10 in a shut out, the simple fact is that no scoring will end this series for the Wings. That said, I am proud they got into the playoffs at all. I seriously was not expecting them to, after Datsyuk and Z didn't come back after the Olympics.

I don't understand how Hamilton walking down the slot and ripping one bar down essentially is a soft goal???

Its a ridiculous snipe when Nyquist or Datsyuk does it, but when it happens against us it's obviously all Howard's fault. It was a perfect, heavy shot to the top corner, not many goalies stop it.

The way people are calling weak goals is like going back to the good ol' Osgood blue and red liners. It's unrealistic goalie performance expectations when the offense is clearly the problem to be complaining about right now.

Yea they only had a couple odd man rushes, power plays... Just everyday stuff... Detroit played terrible, the offense and defense played god awful but were going to blame Howard for a BAR DOWN SHOT FROM THE SLOT, that our d did nothing about... It's wasn't a wrist shot from the blue line... It was ripped shelf from the hash marks.

If that was datsyuk we would all be saying how amazing of a shot it was and rask had no chance, but Howard has been the scape goat all season cause he started terrible.

So, the stupid and completely unavoidable penalty and the awful line change did not contribute at all? Or, they were Howard's fault? Garbage. I refuse to even consider the rest of your post at all because it includes that B.S.

Something in me says that we'd be putting in this kind of "effort" even if we were playing, like, the Bolts (RIP). I'm not trying to take away from the Bruins, they're the best team in the league. But I feel like at least 40% of this is just typical Red Wings bulls***. (See, e.g., 2012.)
