Now see, I try to compliment a Wings player, and you have to turn it all mean. Why do you hate like that?

I applaud your effort, but after the playoff exit I'm finding it hard to compliment them on anything. Although I guess admitting you have a problem is the first step in recovery right? I'll work through my anger by July.

so say that you have a flat tire on the highway and dekeyser stops to help you change, you would not compliment him for helping you.

I would thank him. One is real life the other is hockey, two totally different things.

As per the thread topic, congrats to Abs. I know it's offseason but let's not stray too far off course here ladies and gents.

fans should support their players in wherever they go during the offseason, thats being a true fan, take me for example,we have two players from our minor team that are playing in the australian hockey legaue and i wake up at 2:00am on saturday just to watch them play

You just said that you are finding it hard to compliment them on anything, that means it's not just about hockey that you are finding it hard to compliment them on anything.

First of, complementing and thanking are two completely different things. Second, I made a sarcastic joke, that you seem have taken as some sort of slight. That's really all I have to say about this.

Back on topic, I'm kinda surprised Abby got the Captency, I don't think I've ever heard him being mentioned as a leader in the Red Wings dressing room.

taking look at this roster I would say making Abby a captain is a good choice. At least he has a plenty of experience playing meaningful games compared to those guys.

Roster

Abby's basically a superstar on this team. Plus, USA Hockey loves it some grit and toughness and intangibles and truculence and heart-and-soul and blue-collar and grit and toughness and grit and blue-collar. Also, toughness.

Looking at the roster, he's definitely the elder statesman. Good for him, but still took me by surprise.

Wow that's a young roster. The future is bright for Team USA hockey.

Abby as a captain is intriguing... Let's see how this plays out. Maybe he'll get a boost from this experience.

Good for him. He won't be pushing Hank for long, but eventually Hank, Pavel, and Kronner will retire <pauses for people to regain composure>. Given that they are all near the same age, it can't hurt to have someone young getting some extra experience.

I'm not saying that Abby will be getting an A soon, but they did kind of train this group in by having them rotate the A with Draper. It could happen a few years down the road that they give someone that chance. This can only help Abby's chances of being chosen.
