Prust's hit - the hit itself - was actually clean. I'd thought it was a headshot, but it was shoulder-to-chest. Stepan went flying because it was a total blindside, and that's the only issue. Stepan wasn't expecting a hit because there was no reason for him to be expecting one because the puck was nowhere near him at the time. So it's a minor penalty for interference or roughing. The officials didn't catch it, which sucks, but the DOPS isn't going to discipline him.

Now, Carcillo...he's toast. Physically engaging an official is pretty much the ultimate no-no, which is why you almost never see it happen. They'll probably throw the book at him. Double standard? Probably. If a star had done it, nothing would come of it. But you know what? Losing Carcillo for the rest of time will only help the Rags. Carcillo's a huge liability in an ultra-tight series, which this may very well be, and the SCF would certainly be (if the Rags are going to have a chance).

I disagree about it being clean.

It was late and he made little contact to the body while contacting a player's head. And the only way you can contact the head legally is with solid body contact to the core of a player's body.

He catches him with a shoulder to the chest maybe, but he also caught Stepan's head (he broke his jaw). It wasn't a hit delivered through the core of Stepan's body, it was a fly by that contacted the head. I'm fully expecting a suspension.

As for Carcillo, he proved he's exactly as stupid as everyone thinks he is.

Yeah, I was definitely off-base. I hadn't noticed on the replay how his shoulder rides up. I guess I'd assumed Stepan had broken his jaw when he hit the ice. But even then, it was a blatantly predatory hit. Good call, DOPS.

Prust should have gotten at least 4 games - I love his attitude - but the hit was late and he totally blindsided Stepan.

Carcillo is what he is an agitator, who isn't fighting anymore a Prust Carcillo scrap was something I've been looking forward to in this series.

After the dirty hit on Stepan and the comments from Montreal players and coach afterwards, I'm rooting for the Rangers all the way.

Anyone else think there was pent up frustration regarding the "Price" situation, Habs wanted to make a statement, ended up going overboard, and dug their own grave?
