Hope the Kings did what the Wings couldn't do last season, finish off the Hawks after being up 3-1.

The best thing in the world is when the Wings win the cup. The 2nd best thing in the world is when the Hawks DON'T. :)

Chicago is in big trouble, but they've overcome adversity these last few seasons in the playoffs.  It's not over yet.

Absolutely. They're no strangers to series deficits. But this one feels kind of different, doesn't it? These Kings aren't the Blues or Wings or even last season's Kings (as you rightly pointed out). And the really crazy thing? As they all said in their pressers, they can and will be much better than they were tonight.

Kings, Blues and Bruins are showing the rest of the NHL how to build a team.

Man that Kopitar guy has really emerged during the last years what a beast

I wouldn't really throw the Blues in that group.  Their financial strategy was go big on Miller trade and hope a deep playoff run will bring in enough money to continue with the current roster.  The ownership will not be able to afford this for very long if it is just Hitchcock playoff collapses year after year.

What? Two of those teams aren't even in the playoffs anymore. The blues have 0 cups, and the kings/bruins have 1 each in the past 3 years.

Don't want to jinx them, but the Kings just look like a team destined for The Cup ever since they came back against the Sharks in the first round.  Chicago has been saying they need to play better since Game 3 and they haven't been able to get it done.  They might pull out a win in Game 5, but I don't see them coming all the way back from down 3 - 1.

Bruins are doing very well yo ucan not win every year it's just too damn hard and the Blues ran into a bad matchup.

Anyway I think, I wouldn't write off any either of those series the Hawks could come back just look at the Kings it is possible . The scary thing is the Kings are talking about playing better and while they are having thedefending champs one game away from elimination what a team.

Habs, Rangers won't stand a chance against either one

The Blues? What's that blueprint: how to lose in the first round every season?

Their blueprint is to build a tough team build on superb defense  if they can add a bit of scoring in the off-season, the Blues are for sure are a cup contender again next season. But I agree with you, they have to proof it at some point but given how tough the West is making it out of that conference is insane.

Fair enough. I do agree with you about the Blues and drawing the Blackhawks in the first round was just unfortunate. However, I think you have to achieve and maintain playoff success before a team can be declared a model.

Agreed I know they are good and I really like their team but the Hawks, Kings are doing it almost every year and at some point you have to face and beat the best of the best to become a stanley cup champion. With that in mind I still don't think they are far away from beating Chicago or even the Kings (they look unstopable right now...).

@JKTHN: Quick's "sell job" last night may have helped LA get its 1st power play and a lead. Is diving in the NHL a problem? http://t.co/dAWHFuOTNe

Thoughts?

My first thought is he must be rooting for the Hawks.

Diving is absolutely becoming a problem in the NHL, but Quick's sell job on the Hossa contact is hardly the worst dive this series, let alone playoffs.

I generally cut goalies a little more slack because for every sell job that results in a penalty, there's usually twice as many times they get drilled in the crease and there's no call.

Agree with the premise, odd example.
