to me his first video "Our way of life" is still the best. Pretty much sums up the best parts of hockey.

in case you didn't see it

Sweet. This dude was brought here for one reason, to punch people in the head - every other thing that he can do, other Wings can do better. I like that we have a head-puncher. The league has other, better head-punchers, but this one is ours. Better than nothing. Good work, Kenny!

Good video. Only thing that was off with it was the Boston marathon shots. What the hell does that have to do with hockey? It was downright disgusting in my opinion how the long the Boston sports teams used Boston Strong as a marketing gimmick.

The bombings hurt the city, its people. Pro sports bring people together, foster a sense of (comm)unity, give them something to rally around, provide catharsis, help them forget their troubles, make them happy, etc. That's likely why the marathon was targeted in the first place; attacking an event like that is striking right at the heart of a city.

So I don't mind the association. Do I think Lucic beating his chest is more about Boston Strong than him just being a caveman who does that kind of thing anyway? Not really. But it's not a big deal, to me. But then, I'm not a Bostonian and the bombings didn't hurt me in any serious way. So I dunno.

My only complaint is that song. It works, but man, that guy's voice.

There's that one commercial that's been running during these playoffs, the one with - if memory serves - that twangy bluegrass-ish song that you wouldn't otherwise associate with playoff hockey. I'm not sure it works all that well, but I think they had the right idea. In my experience, the best kind of song for a thing like that (or this) is one that's a really interesting, unexpected fit in terms of tone/mood but - counterintuitively - not an obvious fit in terms of lyrical content. I feel like the 24/7s are really good at that, finding songs that feel right, even though they don't scream THIS IS A SPORTS MONTAGE SONG.

Like, that hall of fame song? The one that gets played whenever a hockey player's being honored? (Or at least at the Bure number retirement ceremony.) Uggghhh.

I thought the songs were great!  They fit well with the video.
