kipwinger 8,458 Report post Posted June 6, 2014 It's a good move. Nobody else available is as good as Rutherford. He's no superstar, but he's not Jay Jeaster, Darcy Regier, or Pierre ******* Mcguire either.

kipwinger 8,458 Report post Posted June 6, 2014 McGuire always a bridesmaid... Just the tip. I was talking with a Pens fan last night who was crushed because he was convinced Pierre was going to get the job.

Nightfall 871 Report post Posted June 6, 2014 Blysma fired. Pittsburgh treated him like crap. They should have just let him go back when they fired Sherro. 1 STL-Wings reacted to this
kipwinger 8,458 Report post Posted June 6, 2014 Pittsburgh treated him like crap. They should have just let him go back when they fired Sherro. I agree. They handled that terrible. No matter what they decided to do it was going to end up classless. If you wait this long and fire him, you're just leaving a guy's neck on the chopping block unnecessarily long. And If you wait this long and don't fire him, but don't publicly back him, you've basically told him you have no faith in him and the first minor screw up is going to get him canned. Who could coach in a situation like that?
frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 6, 2014 Wow Pittsburgh that was incredible classless and also LOL at going from Shero to Rutherford a guy who hasn't done anything for the Hurricanes by not having a bad roster on paper. Also they should have fired Bylsma the day Shero was fired so he would have been able to look at other offeers, what a joke that organization has become *lol* 3 evilmrt, STL-Wings and ami reacted to this

Guest Playmaker Report post Posted June 6, 2014 Bylsma should have resigned when they fired Shero.
Euro_Twins 4,469 Report post Posted June 6, 2014 Bylsma should have resigned when they fired Shero. They probably wanted him to. He probably has a no compete clause if he quits.

frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 6, 2014 Bylsma should have resigned when they fired Shero. ANd leave a huge load of money on the table? No sane coach, gm is stupid enough to do something like that
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted June 7, 2014 Great stories being circulated that Pierre the Pinhead really thought this job was going to be his and wasn't shy to tell anyone who would listen of his belief. Good thing he's still got that broadcasting gig.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted June 7, 2014 5 playoff berths in 20 years for Jimmy as GM. Strangely enough, 3 ECFs, 2 SCFs and a Cup. He's pretty terrible at drafting which is part of the reason the Pens axed Shero. Strange move.
STL-Wings 36 Report post Posted June 7, 2014 Not sure the Penguins know what they are doing anymore with anything. In two or three years from now with, more than likely, similar or worse results does Tort's "favorite" players begin looking elsewhere?
evilmrt 636 Report post Posted June 8, 2014 Why would you hire a GM for only 2 or 3 years from the start? What a mess...
