Spezza Requests Trade

Whereever he ends up I hope he can walk into a grocery store there without being bothered by fans and just be a normal person off the ice. The Blues would be a fantastic fit for him, even if Spezza isn't a 200 ft player Pietrangelo, Bouwmeester will more than make up for some mistakes. Personally I also thought Nashville would be a good fit for him, elite defense and goaltending plus some young forwards who could need a veteran leader.

My list would be: Vancouver, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Florida, Buffalo, Phoenix, Carolina, New York Island, Canadiens

would he be a good fit here ? Yeah but we don't have the assets to aquire him and I highly doubt a guy like him accepts a third line center role behind Z and Pasha..

Winnipeg treats their players great. When I was living there up until about 7 months ago I'd seen Jets players in public and they don't even get bothered at all. Andrew Ladd likes Pretzelmaker... everyone let the guy wander the mall and enjoy the hell out of that pretzel and he's the captain.

wow that's great the guy is the face of this franchise and he can walk into Pretzelmaker without being flooded by fans.

Toronto for sure could learn something from them

I used that example because of the amount of people in the area and the fact that Spezza wants out of Ottawa because he can't even buy groceries without getting blasted by fans and the fact that I strongly believe that wouldn't happen in Winnipeg. That's my argument for Winnipeg not being on the 10 team list.

Murray is dealing from a position of weakness here he has a tight budget and knows players on elcs or young prospects are cheap in terms of salary. According to tsn Spezza has all Canadian teams on his list at some other bottom feeders. Good job Canadian media running a first line center out of town, last pizza liner gone

Not to mention it's public that Spezza requested the trade, which automatically lowers trade value significantly

Its kind of crazy the amount of top six talent requesting trades out of canada, I would hope the fans weren't that crazy there, but I'd believe it.

I was in Franklin park mall about fifteen years ago,(when it was nice) wearing a fedorov jersey. I was walking with my aunt and he was in one of the department stores buying underwear, in the middle of a pretty crowded store, and no one was bothering him.

I waved at him while I was playing on the escalators and he walked up and started talking to me and offered to sign my jersey.

Granted fedorov probably welcomed the attention, but still.

Free agency's looking like it might end up being exciting this year, but then again.

I say that every year.

Most of the Canadian teams in the NHL need to do a much better job building around the stars in their top 6. Preferably before they lose said star player. Ottawa at one point had a deadly top 6.

I think this raises some pretty important questions:

1. What type of underwear were they? Boxers? Briefs? Boxer briefs? Bikini?

2. What color?

3. Most importantly, what size?

So um, yeah. Jason Spezza. He probably wears underwear too.

Ha. I was ten. So I could be remembering it wrong.

But I believe they were red briefs or boxer briefs, and the size of his underwear has no correlation to the size if his............

Ha.

But spezza wears panties.

In no way do I want him on the team.

He doesn't play 6'2, and he's not even that good in puck battles which you'd think he would be.

Plus Ottawa will get wayyyyy more than they should for him.

Personally I think the Canadian teams especially Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver need to do a better job in shiedling their players from all the attention. They should really try to stop it before this thing is going too far and some fan tries something really stupid just because player A had a bad game.

I also don't understand Murray here, why make it public he is doing himself, Spezza and the team a huge disservice. Now everyone knows the captain wants out and if the deal falls through this thing will be hanging around the Sens lockerroom for the whole year, not exactly an ideal situation, especially given the fact that Ryan will be an UFA soon too.

The amount of talent the Sens are running out of town is just astounding Hossa, Chara, Alfredsson, Heatley, Spezza a few years ago this team had the best topline in hockey and now they are going to lose their franchise center. The comments on TSN are also very disappointing, some fans are acting like the players should man up to the scrutiny and pressure...I'd love seeing some of those so called fans trying to experience 24/7 scrutiny themselves and then tell me again if a certain player should man up to that kind of crap. This is also the darkside of all this social media stuff, private things are getting leaked out way too easily and fans behave as pro athletes aren't supposed to live a private life.

Nashville or St. Louis would be great destinations for him.

Spezza apparently nixed a trade to the Preds during the draft too. Imagine if Nashville had added a #1 C and winger, they'd actually be a pretty decent team.

Ottawa is going to end up losing Spezza for little or nothing if they don't lower their asking price. It's going to be the Luongo situation again.

Don't like Spezza now,his butt can stay in ottawa for the entire season

Why do you blame Spezza here ? He gave Murray a list to work with and the Predators like the Wings aren't on that list, it is - again - Murrays fault. The guy should stfu instead of going public with every thing, he just does it to make the player look bad because its never his fault, what a joke this guy is.

And whos fault is it ? Think about it again. Spezza told Murray he would accept a trade to the teams on his list << Murray has this teams and NO OTHER to work with he went to another team and now tries to make Spezza look bad.

If you are only interested in let's say 5 notebooks and someone is buying one not on your list you would nix the trade too.

It's both of their faults. I mean hell spezza can only have ten team son his no trade list so there's still twenty teams out there.

Maybe Murray thought Spezza would accept once there was a deal in place, regardless of the team? But yes, it does sound like Murray ran to the media a bit here. I think we're beginning to find out a bit more about why top players like Alfie, Heatley (at the time) and now Spezza want out...

Jup I am also starting to think Heatleys drama was also part of Murray's fault

Why would he even waste his time trying to trade Spezza to a team not on his list? And why are Murray and Poile getting bent out of shape by it? That'd be like an exec at GM getting pissy because someone he wants to hire wants to work for Google instead.
