So what is it then that Holland isnt doing? Thinking to offer that? Or thinking that's a good offer?

Don't bother. This is what I meant by my post in another thread.

It's the Suter situation all over again. He didn't want to play here this year, he wanted to maximize his value but somehow this is Hollands fault.

And 3 years at 4.5 or 5 million couldn't have convinced him otherwise?

Don't start making excuses yet. My least favorite part about FA day is that in the end, when we're left holding a bag of s***, everyone tries to explain why it wouldn't have happened any other way.

That team has had no more success the last five years than our team has had. I'm not sure why you think so.

No, I don't think it could have convinced him otherwise. Why? Because I think he could have gotten 3 years at 4.5 or 5 million from a large number of teams. He clearly wanted to sign with Pittsburgh, in my opinion, so that's what he did.

The point was, that just because we didn't get a guy doesn't mean that we COULDN'T get a guy. I don't know what Ehrhoff was thinking. But I know it's a little premature to say "he obviously wanted to go to Pittsburgh", which is speculative. One day ago he "obviously" wanted 5 years and 5 million too. Nothing is definite, least of all Christian Ehrhoff's "obvious" intentions.

Exactly. Figured perhaps it was his best chance to win right now. Then he can have a good year, and cash in big next time

So tell me how Pittsburgh is a better investment than Detroit. Since you're so sure it's about playing for a contender. Do you not remember their last four or five HUGELY embarrassing playoff exits for Pittsburgh? Or have I been sleeping and they made it to a Cup final since 2009?

If it was about playing for a contender he's have picked some place other than Detroit OR Pittsburgh, since neither team is contending lately.

This just shows how little we really know. We base our arguments off nothing but rumors and not facts.

Pens could have been talking 1 year deal the whole time, all it takes is an insider to report the wrong thing or jump the gun. Insiders aren't gods, they don't get all the information.

Well I agree, but it certainly goes both ways, everything is speculative until Holland or Ehrhoff spill details but we both praise and condemn as if there is full transparency.

Obviously, it couldn't. Also, I think Holland really is focusing on a righty.

My least favorite part is that when we're left holding this supposed bag of s***, some people continue to complain that it should have happened any other way. And it maybe could have, but it didn't... and we harp on and on and on and on about what should have been.

The Pens have been killer in the regular season for the last five seasons, cruising to the top of their division. Detroit while continuing to make the playoffs, in the the last five seasons has found themselves just sliding in.

Sure, no one can prove anything and it is technically speculation. But, it seems pretty obvious and certainly a lot more likely than what you were suggesting.

Uhh for the simple fact that Pittsburgh has gone further then Detroit the last 4 years, and the fact that playing with Letang, Crosby, Malkin on the PP will maximize his value because he will rack up points.
