Iginla would be a guaranteed 25+ goals, though (and a RH shot, and a power forward, and an elite first-line talent). That's on top of what the others might produce, and all we'd be losing is money. Nyquist and Tatar are still largely question marks, which could be an issue because, the way our roster is set up now, we're going to need them to be big producers.

Doesn't he want 3 years minimum?

Honestly, it might not be the worst thing ever to get Quincey back.

Kronner-Smith

Big E-Dekeyser

Quincey-Ouellet/Marchenko/Bäckman

Anything would be better than a Lashoff-Kindl/Quincey pairing.

I hate how appealing that is starting to sound...pure depression.

THEN GIVE HIM THREE YEARS

Honestly, all this hand-wringing. If you have a shot at an elite, game-breaking talent, and he wants maybe one more year than you'd really like to give him, and your team is a bubble team without any major upgrades...

In a frigging heartbeat.

George Malik @georgemalik 46s

NINE MILLION DOLLARS FOR ROBIDAS AT 37 WITH REPEATEDLY BROKEN LEGS? THANK YOU FOR SAYING NO KENNY I THINK.

For once, I agree with his analysis.

Problem is, if Kenny HAD signed him, Malik would have had a blog post out tonight explaining why it was such a shrewd move and going on and on about how "with just a little luck" it'll be a genius acquisition.

He's never wrong because he never commits to anything until after it already happens.

TBH he doesn't even commit to that as he says "I THINK" to end the tweet.

Who knows, but I don't think we're getting NIskanen. At this point, someone, Tampa or otherwise, is going to give him a huge offer, and it's next to impossible to imagine Holland matching let alone beating. And again, should we be upset about that specifically? I'm not so sure, because again, we're talking one big year on a great team. He hasn't proven that much, and that's a lot of money and years to throw at a guy who might not keep it up. The bigger concern is whether we let lower-priced targets go because we were chasing Niskanen. I don't like the way this day is shaping up right now at all.

Through one of the rumor sites, Niskanen was offered 7 years for $49 million by Tampa Bay. My god....if thats true.

I would like Niskanen but I also don't to drastically over pay. Just call me Ken Holland Jr.
