Meszaros to BUF...pretty said when Detroit is being snubbed for Buffalo...not that I wanted him or even mentioned him, but players are signing in Buffalo and Florida for pete's sake! Who picks those teams over the Red Wings?

Nah. Sabres are some $11m under the floor for heavens sakes. They can offer anyone however much they like.

Keep a cool head. Sometimes its the moves that don't get done

... especially with Kenny. Sad thing is, if we don't land Niskanen, which it looks like we won't, I'd rather give Sproul and Oullet a chance and stand-pat over trading cheap scoring for overrated and overpaid. We can't get worse than Quincey, so as long as we stay healthy and our kids on the front-end develop, we'll be improved from last season. We could have done better, but we can still do much worse if we panic.

Trading a young asset like Jurco or Tatar for Myers is the very definition of a panic move. I can't believe I have to explain why trading a cheap, up and coming, top six forward for a guy who's making 5.5 million on potential is a bad idea.

The team has a number of players whom are seemingly loaded with potential: Nyquist, Tatar, Sheahan, Mantha, Jurco, Sproul, Ouellet.... That's four wingers and a center with top-six potential (say, Nyquist-?-Mantha as a top line & Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco as the second) going forward. Ouellet and Sproul project to top-4 defensemen. Same with DeKeyser and Smith. Who knows if they're all going to pan out, but we're not the Panthers or Islanders by any means. We still have a core of other quality players, including Kronwall, Ericsson, Zetterberg, and Datsyuk. Helm and Abdelkader should be quality third-line guys.... this team is still a playoff-contending team.

That being said.. I'm not happy with today. But that doesn't mean it's time to abandon ship by any means.

Hey look at that some rational intelligent thought.

Has anyone checked to make sure that Ken Holland isn't actually dead? He might very well be dead...from the shame of not making a trade before the draft...and is still lying on his bathroom floor somewhere in suburban Detroit. I say "bathroom floor" because he must surely have been looking at himself in the mirror saying "what happened to you?...You used to be so...so...so..." right before his heart exploded.

This would explain why there were no moves today. The fact that everyone hates his ******* guts for destroying our team would explain why nobody has bothered to go looking for him.

CapGeek @capgeek 48s

The #Sabres no longer have floor problems. They've hit $50.9M in cap payroll with 20 players on the roster. http://www.capgeek.com/sabres/

They signed all these guys so they can just trade them away in a year or two to get more draft picks. Half the signings don't make any sense for them.

We're just a heartbeat away from Holland's annual, "Why we Struck Out" press conference consisting of great quotes like:

"We kicked some tires"

"We like our team"

"Cleary and Quincey extensions are our moves".

Brad Stuart just got traded to the Avs for a 6th and a 7th.

Is this the same guy that just had to play in California for family reasons, so KH let him go?

He did have to play in Cali, until his stepdaughter was 18. Which she is now, and no longer subject to custody rules.

Stuart was traded for a 2nd and a 6th I thought?

Of course we only got a scrub and a 7th for him when he was younger.... Go Kenny!

he was lucky to get anything at all. everyone knew he was only signing with the sharks, yet the sharks traded for his rights anyways

If we don't get Niskanen fine, as long as we our offer was a good as the one he is going to sign, which means he liked another team or another city better BUT if Holland low balled him term and or capwise I'd say move up and let a GM with more fire takeover.

Not overpaying in order to fix a damn BIG need will lead to another meh-season, at least sign an enforcer to bring some entertainment to this team...

Because he had leverage and a family situation. Some of you need to realize that your entilted to your own opinions but not your own facts.
