Trading a young asset like Jurco or Tatar for Myers is the very definition of a panic move. I can't believe I have to explain why trading a cheap, up and coming, top six forward for a guy who's making 5.5 million on potential is a bad idea.

You don't know that either one of Tatar/Jurco is a future top-sixer, though.

I get your argment. And I mostly agree with it. But I'm not sure why you have to stomp your feet about it. Losing Tatar or Jurco wouldn't be the end of the world. Not necessarily, at least. They've proven a whole lot of nothing at the NHL level. You're making it sound like they're sure things.

We do need Tatars and Jurcos and Sheahans, though. Productive young players on early deals. Unfortunately for us, the key reason why you'd want a bunch of young productive players on early contracts is that you'd have the money/assets it'd take to bring in a big name. I'm not sure Kenny's ever going to land an elite talent again, through free agency or trade or even raiding a KHL team.

Mantha for Hudler.

You of all people...Thought you were more level headed type...I'd expect this coming from LeftWinger

Naw, I wouldn't turn on Holland. He's got me as bamboozled as he's got everyone else. I'll be right here at the trade deadline, and next year's draft, and free agency next summer, waiting patiently and knowing damn well that "this year, this year, is the one when Kenny finally pulls the trigger".

I've been hoodwinked. I'm a rube. Gullible. A born sucker.

But nobody can ever say I don't hold out hope.

@asktheduffer: Speculation that Niskanen's camp may have overestimated his bargaining power and priced himself out of market. Could be back in play.

Best agent in the business, I recall a former wing named Brunner who had a similar agent do a similar thing... wait a minute

I'm totally stunned that teams don't want to shell out 7 million per year for a guy who has only had one very good year in the leauge.

Nick Cotsonika @cotsonika 3m

If Richards is going to Chicago, he's not making much. Good deal for center who can play as high as No. 2 and help the power play.

...and have a better shot at the Cup than if he had stuck around with the Rangers. (Not like that was a viable option for either party)

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger 2m

1 year, $2 mil for Brad Richards to Chicago.

Chris Johnston @reporterchris 40s

Brad Richards will earn $2M in salary from #blackhawks next season in addition to the $3.05M buyout payment he'll get from #NYR.

If we don't get Niskanen fine, as long as we our offer was a good as the one he is going to sign, which means he liked another team or another city better BUT if Holland low balled him term and or capwise I'd say move up and let a GM with more fire takeover.

Not overpaying in order to fix a damn BIG need will lead to another meh-season, at least sign an enforcer to bring some entertainment to this team...

Tried that (sorta) with toots and they buried him.. fan satisfaction is lower on the priority list than say keeping the streak alive..and so on..

as long as I have lurked here a 50+ pager thread means disappointed fans usually

nowhere as close to even an upgrade coming...kept an eye on moves all day and thought surely Holland was coming with something esp when the small pieces fell but no..

here's to last minute negotiations..else it will be sad days
