I know we'll probably be sorely disappointed come July 1-2, but can't help but get excited anyway.

I've been pro-Alfie, but I would actually prefer Iginla over him - I think either one could have a place on the team. Realistically, Iginla would bring more of what the Red Wings need (shoot first player, grit).

I think Alfie brings that shoot first mentality too, but Iginla would add size and grit to our lineup most definitely. I would take both if I could.

The only issue with that, I think, is Jurco being weeded out of the line-up.

True, and I'd love to see Jurco stay with the big club this season. But would another year in GR as the first call up be a bad thing for him if we ended up with both Alfie and Iginla?

It needs to be one or the other. If not it would be hard to squeeze Cleary in the roster.

Cue the "too old" crowd

I wouldn't mind Iginla in a Wings uniform but I think he is starting to get too old. Maybe 3 years ago I would have wanted him. #TooOld

He has two good years left at a minimum.
