AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...that guy was drafted 20th. Seriously, 19 other guys where supposedly "better" than that 6'4, 215 lb. pure goal scorer. Next time I hear the argument, "they're NHL GMs, I think they know how to do their jobs", I'm going to laugh hysterically.

The knock on Mantha at the draft was that he had questionable work ethic and day-to-day consistency and compete level.

Obviously a lot of scouts were a little off the mark.

edit to add: the best part is that Athanasiou also looks like he's going to a legit keeper too.

Yup, Athanasiou looks unreal. I hope Blashill plays him and Mantha together all year in Grand Rapids.

Once again, extremely happy Holland doesn't have the quick trigger finger that a lot of LGWers have. A lot of people on here were ready to trade this kid just a few short months ago. I said it back then and I'll say it again now, this kid is a keeper for sure.
