Seems like a solid pick that could have gone much sooner.... there were other options to pick, of course, but this kids seems like a real leader and hard working player in the ilk of Helm with scoring prowess. Tatar/Nyquist - Larkin - Mantha.... wooo!

I wonder if any American team has more homegrown talent than Detroit does?

Now I'm gonna be pessimistic for a bit but it and say that it would be nice if any of that homegrown talent would actually be great too and not just mediocre filler players.

Could you be any more pessimistic if you tried really hard?

I’m usually a pretty optimistic LGWer and stand sternly in the pro-Holland camp. Do you research.

I’m think this pick was safe and boring.

I understand you’re not going to get Stamkos at #15. But trade down a few spots grab Kempe and pick up that 2nd round pick you’re missing? Who knows, maybe that wasn’t an option.

Whatever, time will tell. IN Kenny I trust.

Wasn't there just a thread where people complained we don't get enough home grown talent? Now people are complaining when we take a guy from Michigan who some are comparing to Ryan Kesler?

We complain over everything, it's how we roll in here.

For the record, I like the pick. But who's comparing him to Ryan Kesler?
