NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**

Holland failing to make room for improvements on the NHL roster. Still have too many forwards, s***ty D. No room for UFA's. Failing to trade Kindl, Andersson. He will just kick tires for the rest of his career. He absolutely disappointed Red Wings Nation again thus far. Sure his drafts were solid, but Detroit as a NHL team still sucks. Get ready for Q and Alfie to come back when no UFA of any value wants to come here after Holland, once again, fails to make his team a more attractive place to play. Pathetic. " But, but, were Detroit, everyone wants to play here...for pennies. "

You mean you and you alone?

Actually I'm quite content with what's happened the last little while. We've drafted thus far, 3 guys at centre all with decent size, speed and two way ability. It looks like from all intensive purposes that KH will address a few needs over the offseason judging from what he, Babs and various other members of the organisation have said.

And you know what, if all we end up with is signing Tom Gilbert and Alfie comes back, I would be perfectly happy with that. Because I believe we've got a great mix of veterans and youth that is about to take a huge step forward, and there's more help coming in the form of Mantha, Sproul, Ouellet, Marchenko, Mrazek and co which will make us one of the best young teams next year or the year after for quite some time. If you, and all of the other KH bashers are so gasping for us to trade away all our young assets so just to acquire a couple of guys who will make you feel better immediately, then why don't you contact the Red Wings personally?

If you and a few others can't see the transformation and the long term plan that KH has in mind here like some of us can, then fair enough. But don't keep bashing the same old drum over and over again because you're not happy about what's happening. It's getting kinda tiring.

This is/was a bad prospect pool and everyone knew this going in. It is not a good draft at all. last year was great, next year is good. This year is below average. That is not on Holland. he took a very good player at 15 that should end up somewhere between Legwand and kesler. Legwand is 6-2/205 and scores 15 g 40 points per year. Kesler is 6-2/205 and puts up 25 g and 60 points per year. larkin will be in that range somewhere.

Holy geeze, relax. We haven't even hit Free Agency yet.... trades are still possible. He set meetings up with Niskanen, Boyle, and an unnamed forward. He can't sign anyone until Tuesday. Why don't we wait until later in the summer to make judgements on how the upcoming season may look. It's laughable how worked up some people get.

Talk about getting depressed when you read comments on here. hahahah I don't even want to watch hockey anymore after reading some of them. hahahaha

No kidding. Free agency doesn't start until Tuesday and people have already deemed Holland a failure for doing nothing. I'm not the biggest supporter of Holland, but my goodness, at least let him try and do his job.

Good thing you don't represent anyone but yourself. It's unfortunate we have fans like you.

Do us a favor and cheer for another team because things didn't go your way.

The sad thing is that things haven't had a chance to go any way since the free agency period is still 3 days away. I mean, Holland has already done his due diligence and met with the Agents of Niskanen and Boyle, plus unnamed other/s. He's doing what he's supposed to at this point, so why don't we wait until a little down the line to start throwing tantrums, right?

Also, last off-season, he arguably made two solid moves getting Weiss and Alfie. Weiss had a bad year with injuries, and Alfie was a solid addition.

oh please...forgive me for not wearing the glasses. Just because someone has an opinion that you don't agree with doesn't mean they are less of a fan. Its unfortunate we have people who don't want to see Holland have some balls.

you are right though, its not July yet. I do hope Holland lets loose and actually does something of significance. I just hope the come July 2 and he is still kicking the tires, I dint hear...guys its only Juky, not everyone signs right away....oh wait that is what we hear...

FWIW I did say his draft was solid...it just didn't address any of our pressing needs. Now if/when he does sign a couplevUFA's, he will have too many players and end up losing players to waivers instead of getting a puck for them... I do agree with you guys, be patient, but we are patient every year and every year...welll...

Brains aren't found in the balls though. Making a decision that could cost this franchise in the long run for a short term risk really isn't the strategy that KH and co have employed (aside from Legwand perhaps - but let's not batter that dead horse).

Maybe, just maybe, the Wings feel pretty happy with how things are developing, with the kids who've stepped up, and the young D core we're about to get, right now what we need is some solid veterans in the lineup like we have to complement and help the kids become the leaders of this team. It doesn't make much sense right now to trade a bunch of em away, because really, the guys who are still in GR we don't know which ones will make it.

Its a patient approach and yea, I can imagine it's frustrating when other teams around the league are seemingly going for it when we're appearing to stand pat. But why roll the dice when even doing so won't put you over the top? May as well wait and have several successful years than just 1 or 2.

I actually quite like this draft so far. 3 centers seems like a lot, but in a few years they'll be needed in our system. I like taking a goalie semi late in the draft as well. That Finnish lw looks like he had a decent year. Anyone know his actual height? NHL.com says 6'2", TSN says 6'5".

SM-Liga's website has him listed at 196cm which is 6'5" so I'm going to go with that height.
