Red Wings Target Mike Green

It's been very clear for quite some time now that we are "retooling". We're definitely not going to rebuild and dump our three captains, nor are we going to trade away all of our promising prospects for a quick fix. I'm more than okay with the retooling that is in progress. Our team will be stronger because of it, knowing that this team does not accept losing (tanking).

(Not saying we don't need a solid 2C. We just need, and have needed, That Top-Four Defenseman who shoots right, who can move the puck, who can drive our attack, who can generate offense, who can run an effective power play.)

I agree Son of a Wing... Nobody wants our bottoms 6'ers for high end players in a rebuild, that is the only reason trading Datsyuk and or Zetterberg was brought up, IF Holland decided to go for a total rebuild, the only was we could trade for #1 picks or high end younger players would be to dump salary and all stars. I am not for this, I said it when I mentioned it before, I would rather win WITH Datsyuk, but even with our retooling, unless we can get some UFA luck next summer, we may not win another Cup with Pav. But, said unnamed user just reads "Trade Pav, Trade Z..." and resorts to bashing and attacking. No big deal, I've been bashed through the years...I can take it.

Anyhow retooling is fine with me...if Green comes in, does what we need him to do, then re-signs, then losing Ferraro and a pick (if that is the deal, we don't even know yet) wouldn't hurt too much. And having Green here and re-signing could very well show some UFA's out there that Holland is serious about getting back to the top and maybe our UFA luck will change...I am hoping, because I am tired of being snubbed for whatever reason. Still makes me mad about #kfq though. Morris is out there, waiting, RH'd and better than #kfq and would have cost the same if not less...even if he cost a bit more, he is more of what we need. But if Holland is able to land Green for a good return, I can move a bit more towards the forgiveness isle...

To me "the streak" is a lot like kissing your sister.

You couldn't have gone with, "is a lot like taking your cousin to prom" instead?

EDIT: If the Red Wings' starter offer actually does involve Ferraro, then I'm optimistic the two could meet somewhere around Andersson, Frk + 2nd. I'd be really happy with that, but I fear that Frk could be "upgraded" to Pulkkinen. Regardless, bringing in a top 4 guy who's going to quarterback the PP without giving up Mantha, Nyquist, Jurco or Tatar would be a huge win in my eyes.

Don't know if I missed a link here but why does anyone with a pulse believe Landon Ferraro and a "pick" is going to get us Mike Green? That wouldn't even get us Red Green.

Did you miss the Legwand trade?

As Kip mentioned, it's part of negotiating. They likely ask for Mantha, Detroit replies with Ferraro. And for the record, I'd take Red Green for comedic relief on the 4th line.

The Legwand trade was made out of desperation. Poile had Holland over a barrel there.

Thanks a lot dude. I've just spent the last 30 minutes reading about my favorite WWE matches on Wikipedia, such is my devotion to the greatest league in all of professional sports lol.

No, my post was a veiled attempt to suggest that we should sign Lesnar.

But then where does Cleary fit in if he re-signs?
