Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses

Would not be surprised if this deal was made because Holland is working on a trade for a dman. Perhaps a roster player may be on the move? Who knows. Either that or he and Andersson will be keeping the pressbox warm for much of the season rather than having a guy like Jurco do it.

Who else burst out laughing when they heard?

All Ken Holland has done this offseason is sign players for Grand Rapids...at least that's what we hope he's doing...

I did. I just saw it on Twitter and KNEW where I had to come instantly.

Because if they happen at once the dumpster fire probably would've spread to the whole building, and it's no fun to fight a fire that size.

Please tell me you're kidding about that last part.

Pretty sure that I am serious, like 99% sure that the CBA only allows one way contracts to be set up with performance bonuses

Doesn't sound like it is a two-way deal.

Another counterproductive signing by an ineffective and hilariously incompetent GM.

Steve Downie scored 24 points in 62 games last year and got a one-year, $1million deal. Cleary scored 8 points in 52 games and just got a one-year contract worth up to $2.5 million. Let that sink in.

I have to wonder, doesn't Holland talk to Babcock and the other members of the team before signing off on s*** like this??? doesn't anyone actually speak up to stop this lunacy??????

Sadly reports are it was Babcock behind bringing back Cleary last year so I doubt he has much of a problem with this. "Clears" is his boy for life. Look I was a huge Cleary fan too, but after the massive tolls on his body he just isn't what he used to be out there. Even Homer was a better skater at 38/39 than Cleary is now.

FFS, Chelios still has more game left in him right now.

Jurco would be in the lineup every night.

The Red Wings have absolutely no direction under Ken Holland. What's the sell to fans right now? The one thing that would and did add excitement is the youth movement and Ken takes a s*** on that every opportunity he gets. Extending the playoff streak is a joke because clearly the organization isn't trying to win now all that hard either by keeping Kyle Quincey and Dan Cleary around.

Holland is incompetent. The league has passed him by and lapped him at this point.

Would rather have Bertuzzi. If only for the shoot outs

That would mean he brings something to the table. Danny brings what? Not a damn thing.

People at the JLA should wear "If Cleary Plays We Riot" shirts.

:busted_red:

There should be NO ONE at the JLA in protest of this garbage. At least until they get the hint that Kenny has to leave.
