I think it would lighten the mood in the locker room if they had a team/teammates that they could be proud of and have confidence in.

I don't understand telling Alfie (who was actually pretty good last year, and actually has great leadership) he has to wait and see if he's healthy enough to play, but Cleary, who can barely stand up (and even if he could is totally useless anyway) gets a pass.

This is clearly ridiculous, but I don't know if Holland's quote has been metioned...this at least takes some of the sting off:

I'm gonna riot and I will not spend a dime on attending games if Cleary makes the team over Jurco in September. If people don't think Holland is out of touch by this point, I have nothing left to offer. Just look at the track record since 2009.

Tootoo, Samuelson, Quincey, Cleary. And even letting Emmerton and probably Almquist go to the KHL

On another note, for the cap not coming off the books and all that only $100,000 cap relief stuff for 35+ contracts, it only applies to multi year contracts. So that's something.

I can understand Holland wanting to be loyal and all, but shouldn't Cleary have some accountability also?

Shouldn't he be able to, you know, still play hockey? And be able to repay the loyalty with results on the ice?

I sure hope he can prove us all wrong, but it seems doubtful, as others have pointed out, that his body will be able to hold up for very long

And also, in the backs of all our minds we can see Cleary making the opening night roster, perhaps even in the top 6, regardless of how he performs, over Jurco since he can still be sent down w/o having to clear waivers

Iam sure many of us hope that Weiss will be back healthy and provide what was expected of him. If that happens I will close my eyes on Cleary. Let him be. Do whatever he does. I don't mind if he does not play more than 5 games. Let him at least sign autographs for the kids.

I literally spent the last two days arguing with guys who think we should trade Tatar and that "Holland's done everything he can" to make this team better but "you can't make people sign here".

On the one hand I'm bummed that our already bad team didn't get any better. On the other hand I'm delighted to have some evidence to point at the next time I say KH is ******* up.
