This same article also has Holland saying Cleary will have to beat out other players to be in the lineup. But lets ignore that because it isn;t in line with Holland bashing.

Get with it man, we all know by now that's not how it works with Holland and Babs. They say s*** like this and then do the opposite. Standard Procedure.

This might be getting a little heated. Just know I don't hate any of you guys.

That doesn't mean that I respect ideas & opinions. Some ideas & opinions are ridiculous.

In fact, if you confront my ideas & opinions, that will lead to a discussion. (We're on a discussion board after all. Don't forget that!)

Because Cleary beat Nyquist, Jurco, Tatar, Sheahan and Pulkkinen last year in camp.

If you believe that, there is no hope for you.

I'm just gonna hope he is able to earn his in game bonus. If he plays bad, he'll be scratched. If he gets hurt, he won't play. If he plays well, good for us.

The only way he doesn't play is if he gets hurt and can't play. That's how it worked this past season with him and Samuelsson. There's no "hard line" with him. It's a lie.

Then why did he end up a healthy scratch last season?

Do you really believe that Holland will release or demote Cleary over a youngster that can be sent down even if the youngster completely outplays Cleary?? What message does it send to the young players in the organization? They preach to them to work hard and youll earn your spot but all they end up seeing is those spots theyve earned given to players that should have been put out to pasture years ago.

When Holland comes out on the ice or anything like Bettman he should be boo'd just the same. I won't even be surprised if fans at the Wings games start bringing cardboard with "Holland Sucks"  or "Fire Holland"written on it at this point. I feel so bad us the fans along with Datsyuk, Zetterberg, etc. Watch next players we actually want on the team start requesting trades.

When did I say that? I clearly said in a previous post that there will have to be a couple guys in the press box, and that Cleary is better suited to that than a guy like Jurco. You want Jurco in that role instead of playing top line minutes in Grand Rapids? Jurco would be in the AHL to start the season without Cleary. Stop acting like this signing is holding him back. It isn't.

Edit: People can get on my case all they want. I'm just trying to discuss the signing itself rather than see this become yet ANOTHER Holland bashing thread. Don't we already have enough of those?

Yeah lets all be super happy and positive that Holland is ruining the Wings.... <_<

And Holland had offered him a three year deal at the start of the summer that Cleary turned down.

And yet we feel the need to be loyal to him...

Could someone please just kill me? This summer has to be some crazy f***ed up dream in which I can only escape back to reality by getting Elmstreeted or some s***.

f*** f*** f***.

I just have nothing logical or reasonable or mature to say now. It's just a tirade of swears and a heavy cloud of depression.

Part of me knew this was coming, but part of me thought that there really was no way it could actually happen. I know we said we'd do it, but given how last year went and our kids that are ready for spots, it just seemed like there was no way anyone could justify this at this point.

Fire Holland.

If I did as bad a job as Ken Holland over the last few years at my workplace I'd have been fired about seven times by now.

Remember, Kenny gets paid a hell of a lot of money to supposedly make this team better. What has he done to make it better since Lidstrom retired? What part of his actual job has he done besides sit on his hands and take the easy options time and time again? This team has SCRAPED into the playoffs for two seasons running and his response is to re-sign two of the worst players and give himself a pat on the back?

I've said it so many times over the years and I'll keep saying it in stronger terms with every ridiculous move he makes. Ken Holland is a fraud. Without Håkan Andersson he would have been found out years ago. This roster is his product, the Franzen contract will be his legacy, and it'll be a miracle if we keep the playoff streak alive with a weaker and somehow OLDER roster than before.

Bottom line: Holland has failed year after year to replace Lidstrom and Holmstrom. His signings in the last few years have been nothing short of laughable. There is loyalty to players but more importantly is loyalty to the fans to do his job and create the best roster in his power to compete for the Stanley Cup.

The complacency is infuriating.

Like I already said multiple times. I don't like this signing. But every thread on these forums are turning into Holland bashing threads. Like, is it that difficult to keep all the calling for Holland to be fired under one roof? So other threads can be used to actual discussion? That's all I'm getting at here.

The only positive that could come from this signing is to have Cleary taking up a roster spot in the press box on a regular basis instead of someone like Jurco.

This is why I cut Tatar a lot of slack when those comments were coming out about his frustration being stuck in GR. It's one thing to not rush guys, but we're not in an era where it makes sense to let everyone get "overripe" as Holland puts it. We need their skill and their speed and their price points in the NHL far more than we need to be signing oldsters that can't contribute.

If someone can find an email address I think we should all email our disgust with Holland and the last few years.

Next up - Holland will re-sign Alfie and then hit the golf course. Holland spends his time negotiating with Cleary and not signing our remaining RFA's Tatar and Dekeyser to contracts - shows what he values most.

Is there a kickstarter campaign for Jakub Kindl to never play another NHL game?

Why wouldn't Holland be getting discussed in a thread about him signing someone to a contract?

You're free to not read this thread and go into one where this isn't being talked about, or even (gasp) not being on the site at all right now if you know you're not going to like the discussion taking place.

If I didn't want to read all this then I wouldn't be in here....simple.

Sorry if thats not 100% what you meant. Thats just how I comprehended your post. This signing is holding the team back though. Signings like these have held the team back the last couple years. The Wings already have guys that fill Cleary's role. There is no need to bring him in. Id rather have Jurco playing top minutes in GR and then getting the call when players inevitably get hurt. 50+ games in GR and then 30 or so in the NHL will do loads more for his development at this stage than 80+ in GR. Having Cleary on the roster just adds another body he has to jump through even though hes proved hes a better player right now.
