Must be the most difficult job in the NHL and yet their boards continues to hire all these brash, big mouth guys. Add to it the infight between Rogers and Bell and even as an experienced one people are in for hell. But the guy also didn't do himself any favors by trying to remove the pictures of former Leafs legends or book the cup parade. Still can't believe the BOG allowed Rogers/Bell to co-own this team.

That being said the star quoted an interview with his wife...I mean seriously he isn't even a player and they are going to interview his wife ? Something is clearly wrong with the Toronto media that place must be crazy.

From what I've heard, his role with MLSE was never meant to be long term, so to many, this isn't a huge surprise. Also, for clarity, it will likely be over 2 years that he will be with MLSE since he will leave on June 30, 2015 (unless the Board finds a new replacement sooner). That said, my guess is that he is likely leaving earlier than planned for some reason (difficulty dealing with Bell and Rogers boards?).

For those not as close to the specifics, this isn't a Toronto Maple Leafs thing, MLSE owns the Leafs, Raptors and Toronto FC (MLS soccer team) - amoung many other ventures. So, he was the President of MSLE and from what I can tell, most of his attention was actually on other ventures, not the Leafs specifically.

Maybe that has been the problem them ? I never understood the signing, they've fired Burke and then hired another bigmouth, brash persona just to "fire" him again but I also think it must be very difficult dealing with this big group of CEOs, chairmans and what not.

I mean Dubas has to ask Nonis < Shanahan < Leiweke < Tannenbaum < George Gope that's a lot of steps to get get something done, approved.

They have enough money if MLSE is smart, they are going to bring in the great one and let him run the company. Also I still can't believe the BOG allowed the sale of the Leafs to two big companies who *hate* each other.

It's all about the Benjamin's. And it wouldn't be smart to bring gretzky in to manage the team.

No one can run MLSE, it's an entirely different beast. He has done a lot of good things for the teams in Toronto including bringing in Shanahan to run the Leafs - Nonis will probably be fired this year, fired Brian Collangelo and brought in Masai Ujiri (who got the Raptors to their first playoffs since 2008 in his first year) and brought in some euro soccer stars who helped TFC make the playoffs.

Working with Bell and Rogers is almost next to impossible. Bell and Rogers both share 50/50 of the MLSE, when Rogers bought that 5 billion dollar NHL broadcasting deal, well Bell got screwed since TSN will not be showing games anymore and I think that's where Bell got turned off by everything. They only had TSN to compete anything to do with the NHL and now that's gone. I think the only way MLSE will exist and be run properly will be if Bell was to sell their portion to Rogers, however MLSE is such a huge cash draw that they probably won't.
