Las Vegas rumored to get an expansion team

Yea, I wish it were relocation too as the talent level league wide is watered down enough, but I also think the expansion draft will be interesting. This will be the first time a professional sports league with a salary cap has held an expansion draft I believe

Yeah, I mean Phoenix is doing so well, let's toss another team right next to them.

So what fun and exciting name are they going to slap on this one?

If any of those cities was going to be the first "lock" to get an NHL expansion team, Vegas is the last one on the list I thought would be receiving one. Seattle or QC makes the most sense.

Just stop adding teams already. How much more watered down and parity filled do we need the league to become? Florida, Phoenix, Nashville and Atlanta all failed, but hey let's keep forcing the expansion issue some more.

At least relocate if they are going to pursue this dumb idea at all.

As someone who lived in Tennessee for awhile and went to preds games. I wouldn't say they failed at all. They're doing well for the market they're in. They just need a better owner who will spend to the cap.

Every game will be sold out and the arena will be empty. The casinos will buy the tickets and give them to guests who won't use them.

And that's different from the joe how? Sorry I guess the joe is only Half empty lol

Seattle, Quebec, and Toronto also getting new teams in 2017

Is that a joke, speculation, rumor, or fact? I hope it's a joke...

I agree with who lever said subtraction we should go down to 28 teams and relocate a couple.

I know I may be I. The minority here, but I'm OK with this. Maybe I just can't stand having an uneven number of teams in each conference, but I feel like it needs to be balanced out.

I would definitely prefer Seattle and KC as destinations for new teams, though.

Seattle, Quebec, and Toronto also getting new teams in 2017

This is the only source I could find for that:

@SportsBizNews: NHL expansion four teams added by 2017, Quebec City, Toronto, Seattle, and Las Vegas $1.4b in expansion fees

I'm really hoping this is a ******* joke. We're being punked, right? I mean, if it was Seattle and Quebec City I'd be fine with it (with one or both of those being relocation instead of expansion), but Vegas? A SECOND TEAM FOR TORONTO? f*** off.

I really don't understand 34 teams maybe 32 and 2 relocate?

I do feel Vegas is a better option than...Dallas Arizona Carolina Florida and a lot if other options. Just because if what someone said. If casinos buy all the tickets then the team WILL ACTUALLY MAKE MONEY. Now how many people will show up? Not many but tickets being sold is huge.

I guess. But they still won't make money, they need revenue from food, drinks, memorabilia and tv viewing audience. Ticket sales are just one aspect of many.

I'm sorry, but this would be the worst idea. It's an absolute joke. Hasn't the NHL actually learned from the fiascos that are the Panthers, Coyotes and all the sunbelt franchises? What were the stories coming out of Florida last year saying the panthers were losing millions each year? How many years did the league have to prop up the Coyotes finances?

If they should be doing anything, it's moving the Panthers to Quebec City, and the Coyotes to Seattle.

I'd rather see the league fold than have a team in another doomed from the start, non hockey loving City that couldn't give two shoots about the game.
