Who would you take in a shootout for the Wings?

Read an article about this today, I'll post it at the bottom. But interesting thought on who you would take in a shootout if the season was on the line.

Personally, I'd go Datsyuk, Jurco, Tatar. But Jurco has yet to take very many shootouts in the NHL.

Since the Wings forwards have shown that they can't score a shootout goal, I might as well go with Jimmy--who knows a thing or two about goals being scored.

If last season was an indication, trade for Oshie and put it on his shoulders.

On the current team, probably Datsyuk, but it's tough to have much faith in any of our players being consistent in a shootout enough to pinpoint one as the unquestionable go-to shootout player.

I always thought Z was much better in the SO than people think. I'm guessing Z doesn't like to shoot much and thats why we don't see him because he has all the skills.

It has nothing to do with what people think, in a shootout you can either score the goals or not.

Look at ovie, and stammer, they aren't very good in the shootout but they are snipers, snipers usually have a harder time scoring just one on one against a goalie. Z is more of a sniper and he rarely can pull of the nice dekes that score shootout goals.

to me its a 50/50 odds so if you can confuse a goalie on shooter tendencies without losing quality shooting skill...i would try everyone early throughout the season and go with dats under pressure for the win.

That's inaccurate. Aside from players with less than 10 attempts there are higher percentages. Toews and oshie come to mind, but I'm pretty sure what you are thinking of is the fact that datsyuk has the most shootout goals, but not the highest percentage. I think he is top 5 though.

I'm pretty darn sure he was the highest before last season. That's the only reason I questioned my judgement yesterday. And please exclude guys who have like 1 successful attempt putting them at 100% or close.

thats why i said less than 10 attempts, oshie has something like 22 goals on 40 attempts, toews has like 48% and dats is around 45% now, maybe prior to last season he was the highest, but he wasn't very good last year

Him and Parise were tied with most shootout goals career going into last year I believe. He doesn't hold that title anymore though. Toews definitely has a higher percentage, I believe it's 50 whereas Dats is like 43 or something.

Yeah, Datsyuk's shootout stats are really good, but by no means the best - 4th in total career goals and something like 26th in % for guys with 10 or more attempts.
