Let the best coach in the league walk and hope for the best with a rookie coach? Probably not the smartest move to make if it can be avoided lol. If Babs leaves, it will be because he wants to go elsewhere. As it should be with a coach like him. Eakins had a lot of success in the AHL as well. Not having so much a time as an NHL coach though.

But Willie Desjardins has been great with Vancouver. Both he and Blashill have Calder Cups. As good as Eakins was in the AHL, he never won that championship.

I do beleive that Blashill will be a great nhl coach one day though

Babcock a large part of why we're doing better than expected. It seems to me, from comment in the media, that he's built a good relationship with our young players. Before this year i was on the fence about babs coming back, but it's clear to me that we're on a path where we can have some real success in the coming years. Changing coaches could put that in jeopardy.

basically, if it ain't broke, don't fix it

Truth. Some are anxious to see what Blash can do. But why stick with just him when right now we have both. I'd love to see Blash become an assistant to babs for a couple more seasons before being a head coach. throw lots of money at him to try and keep him around, I say.

I really like the fact that we have sucha good minor league coach. I want him there teaching baby wings for as long as possible.

The source is a friend of Tootoos waterski coach.

Great coach, terrible source.

A twice removed relative of Datsyuk's fishing guide told a guy I know that Babcock and Datsyuk hate each other, and that Pavel told Holland that either Babcock leaves or he goes back to Russia. Apparently Babcock called his bluff exclaiming: "Finally, I'll have room to slot in Abdelkader at #1 center". Only through a masterful and manipulative lockeroom good-cop bad-cop routine by Holland and Cleary, was the team able to keep both men happy and with the organization. But for how long will this tenuous peace last.... After all... Babcock hasn't re-signed yet... *dramatic moment*

The team is having a strong start but it's not like we've won the cup the past 5 years in a row. The past few years this team HAS been broke. Just saying.

Which is what happens when you lose one of the greatest dmen of all time and had a large influx of youth injected into the lineup all at once. There *might* be one or 2 other coaches who could have done with this team these last few years what Babs has. The team will only continue to improve, especially if Babs sticks around. He'll turn this squad into a winner. That's what he does.

You took my comment without the context, but anyway, has been broken is different than Is broken. It's not the same team as the past 5 years. Besides, I don't think coaching is to blame for the downturn of the past 5 years - It the fact that we've been rebuilding the roster.

The only bad thing is, is that those who do want Babs gone won't realize how big a mistake it would be unless it actually happens. So I definitely hope to have the few Babcock haters to keep on hating and being frustrated for another 4-5 years lol

I think Babcock is. A great coach in terms of X's and O's.

But his lineups are god awful. We could pull

Names out of a hat and get better line combos:

Babs all cash in and getting a chance to choose from a lot of teams, where some are contenders. Also the guy wants a fair say in signing decisions if he doesn't get it here, super Mario is for sure going to provide that also.

Personally I think he'll leave and by then the retool will turn into a rebuild (only one year too late for McEichel).

People who don't like him will get their wish and he'll take home a few cups with the Pens or Blues
