themcityblues 249 Report post Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) How's Marchenko, Sproul and Oulett playing? They seem invisible to me, but maybe I'm just paying attention elsewhere. Also I think Nosek and Porter look like bonefide AHL'ers. Edited September 30, 2014 by themcityblues

TheXym 2,606 Report post Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) Is Smith not paired with Quincey? I think that he was much better when not paired with Kyle ******* Q (think of the Dennis Leary NyQuil routine) last season. Just a bad player combo with toxic chemistry imho. Smith has been strong from what I've seen in the 2nd. Edited September 30, 2014 by TheXym 1 Dominator2005 reacted to this

jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted September 30, 2014 Always old school xym, always. And Jensen just looks smooth. They keep saying how oulettes our most nhl ready defenseman but the mistakes he's made are the type that would make me worry about him against all NHL competition. I know the learning curve for d is steep, but Jensen and marchenko look a lot calmer, but I could just be noticing them more because the right handed shots. 1 themcityblues reacted to this

It's not immediately apparent what he does to a team but he does ... ruin the flava They keep saying how oulettes our most nhl ready defenseman but the mistakes he's made are the type that would make me worry about him against all NHL competition. Yeah, I edited out my comment that Oulette looked like a total AHL'er because I didn't want to upset anybody. He doesn't seem ready and he doesn't seem good. I feel similarly, but less strongly towards Sproul. Marchenko looks calm and experienced. Also I see a big difference between guys like Andersson and Porter/Nosek/Netrasil. Andersson looks like a NHL'er and the other three don't. While Andersson isn't the best NHL player ever maybe it goes to show he's arrived? Also I think Nosek and Porter look like bonefide AHL'ers. Oulette has looked pretty solid (aside from an ill-advised pass in the first), he's more physical than I realized, with a couple solid hits. He seems to do a good job protecting the crease after rebounds too, but other than that, I think the three of them have been pretty quiet tonight. Although Jensen has been stealing the spotlight for the prospects, and Smith has been a surprisingly steadying force. I like that he's been taking it on himself to lead the defense, and he looks pretty comfortable in that role so far.

Also I think Nosek and Porter look like bonefide AHL'ers.Nosek could turn into something more...He looked good until that last shift, when he missed the net with a wide open look, then made that stupid hit that got him kicked out. I'm liking what I'm seeing from nestrasil.

I definitely tjink hes good, really good, hes just made a few bad plays, and whwn pressured he seems jumpy. He hasn't looked horrible though, he's physical and made his share of good plays that pass that lead to the breakaway was awful, but hell get it. Im kind of thinking Jensen sproul and marchenko look so good because were not used to seeing right handers on that side of the ice, so compared to what were used to seeing it looks easier because it is. Ha. Jensen is just looking flat out good though. 1 themcityblues reacted to this

Any turnovers Smith commits tonight are bc he learned them from Quincey in the past. 4 themcityblues, Hockeymom1960, 13dangledangle and 1 other reacted to this

Sorry, I didn't mean to start it with my Smith looking better without him comment. FWIW, I also felt Q was better without Smith, they didn't mesh well, IMHO, to the detriment of both. 1 derblaueClaus reacted to this

TheXym 2,606 Report post Posted September 30, 2014 You don't have to apologize. No I didn't, but I also didn't mean to veer the thread off the tracks. Though, the Dennis Leary reference DOES work, IMHO. Man, the puck movement with a RH d-man seems to flow so much better.
