The NY Islanders have acquired defenseman Johnny Boychuk from the Boston Bruins for two second round picks and a conditional third round pick. They also acquired defenseman Nick Leddy from the Chicago Blackhawks for Tj Brennan, Ville Pokka and Anders Nilsson.

Great pickups by the Isles, their backend looks decent after these moves.

This puts the Isles closer to playoff contention and if I were BAbcock it would absolutely piss me off. Boychuck would have been the perfect defenseman for this team and he didn't cost a lot guess it wasn't a "hockeytrade"

Even as a rental Boychuck for only a second round pick ? What the hell is going on with Chiarelli, 1. the Seguin trade which looks even worse now 2. not re-signing a heart and soul guy in Thornton and now 3. basically giving Boychuck away for spareparts.

This deal puts the Bruins D in a bad spot, Seidenberg and Chara better be prepared to play a lot of minutes now, stupid.

Two second round picks, but I digress I would have considered it

Luckily for you, Luke Scheen is still on the market.

Bruins would never have traded Boychuk to us. But still, trading from a position of strength (deep prospect pool) to address a position of weakness (defence), shocking! Nobody tell Holland.

Boychuk is decent but stop acting like Suter got moved. He would have helped Detroit, but Boston might have preferred trading him to a lesser team, or thought the Isles picks would be better. Besides, if Smith and Dekeyser improve again this year the top 4 will be set and there's no room long term.

Great argument... for a 12 years old girl...

Whatever. This is you:

- other teams players are better than ours because they’re on other teams.

- Holland sucks

- Quincey and Kindl and Lashoff are the only players on this team

- lose a preseason game to the Leafs and the season is doomed.

You don’t think we’d all find things to complain about if Boychuck and Kronwall were our top pairing? Take a cue from Babcock when he talks about “the grass not being greener”.

Anyway, that’s all I have to say. You’re entitled to your opinion and I’m not saying I’m a better fan than you, so carry on.

At least Garth tries to make his team better, all the while having damn good prospects as well..

Yes the Islanders are a model f****** franchise aren’t they?

Now we’re saying Snow is a better GM than Holland? Is that what we’re saying? I need you to put that in writing so I can make it my signature.

He didn't said that Snow is better GM than Kenny. He said that Snow is trying at least... if you think that signing Q for two more years is a good move well there is nothing to add. Kenny is making some PANIC moves for a while

See, there you go again. As if signing Kyle ******* Quincey is the only thing Holland has ever done. Is that all you’ve got.

I don’t care how hard he tries. Tell me about Snow’s impeccable track record as a GM. I want to add that to my signature as well. Do it, I dare you.

If Holland pulled some of the s*** that Snow has over the years, they'd just be putting all of the fires out in Detroit now.

No where did I say the Islanders franchise were model, nor better then the Wings. Didn't compare Garth to Kenny either, you did that. Hell, I didn't even say their defense is better then ours. All I said was Garth at least tries, he's quite the idiot usually, but today not so much. I'm sure Holland does lots of work behind the scenes, but nothing ever comes of it. Don't jump all over me for a sentence haha. Once in a while, I wouldn't mind seeing Kenny take a chance in a trade. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't but it's better then bringing back the same roster from last year that didn't do a whole lot. Now, if one of the kids gets a spot in the top 6 and Kindl is on the bench then I won't really care either way. If we're going to be mediocre again this season, I'd rather see young guys playing because the sooner they're in the lineup, the sooner we're one of the top teams in the East.

You dont think trading Matt Moulson, a first-round pick in 2014 and a second-round pick in 2015.for Vanek, then 5 months later trading Vanek for Sebastian Collberg and a conditional 2nd round selection in 2014 which I dont think they are getting because he signed on Minny a great move lol.

Possibly the worst move in any GM has made in years.

If someone told me Snow would have had a better off season than Chiarelli, Holland my first reaction would have been laughing but now it has become true.

Boychuk is an absolute tank and a reliable shutdown guy blessed with a laser from the blue line, plus he comes with a great cap hit. Giving him awake 2 prospects, who might never play in the league is nuts and it puts the Bruins in a very bad spot.

What’s the old saying? Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Eventually even an idiot like Snow is going to make a deal. To be honest though, two second rounders and a third is a lot to give up.

Chiarelli is falling victim to the salary cap. The same thing that gutted the Wings offence in the summer of 09. I still think he’s a great GM.

Snow has to make a move. He has one of those teams that needs to start winning. Holland is just trying to stay afloat while his stable of good prospects start to come. I still think he’s a great GM too.

Fair enough. You’re right. Any Wings fan should still take Holland all the time over Snow. That almost goes without saying.
