Wings placed Callahan, Ferraro and Porter on waivers today. Have until noon tomorrow to clear. Keeping Nestrasil on roster for now.

Sucks about callahan, hes probably the only one i could see getting claimed. Ferraro hasn't looked comfortable when hes gotten the call

Gonna be a sad day for me if Callahan gets claimed. I've followed his progress since the day he was drafted and have been waiting for the day that seemed inevitable in that he would get a regular spot on the Wings team. I think choosing someone based on a few incredibly crappy exhibition games is a flawed process, but what do I know. Not like Detroit has made mistakes in choosing it's roster in recent years :sleepy:

At least we've got Cleary on the roster  That'll be worth it if Mitch gets claimed. Something to laugh at.

Not too dissapointed about Ferraro/Porter but I'd like to see Callahan get a chance over Miller..

Not sure how great of a PKer he is but he seems to bring character to the lineup

edit: forgot about Cleary... the fact that theres a possibility we lose Callahan for nothing for him is a joke

Of those prospects I think they made the right call. Jensen and Oulette both consistently outplayed almost half out defensive NHL roster, and both provided much needed offense from the blue line. Callahan could have provided some much-needed sand paper from the bottom six, but overall Nestrasil has the potential to be a bigger difference-maker, both now and especially a couple years down the road. That said, there's no guarantee that Callahan even gets picked up off waivers, so there may be hope still that he sticks with the organization.

Ferraro and Porter meh but Callahan provides some sandpaper but sadly that skillset isn't wanted it seem. Yeah Nestrasil had a very good pre-season but can we at least keep some NA players instead of adding more skilled but soft - although nice sized - euros ? I mean, a bottom 6 needs different talents than a top 6 player...

Hopefully Callahan clears

It's not like they haven't watched these guys play for years. These "crappy exhibition games" are a part of the evaluation process. So is training camp. So was last season. So are off ice workouts. There's a ton that goes into picking a team.

Callahan won't get claimed. He had one fluke season where a bunch of pucks went in for him in the AHL. He's not a scorer, he's not fast, he's not big, he's a projected 4th line agitator. He also didn't look at all like an NHL player in the preseason. Neither did Ferraro.

Nestrasil is a 6'3 RH C. We can use a guy like that in the lineup. If he keeps progressing the way he has we will have quite the gem. I like Callahan and don't want to lose him but Nestrasil is clearly more valuable to the team long term.

RH as in right handed? He's a lefty. And he's played a lot of left wing lately.

Hopefully with Ouellet still being here, Kindl is out... Now we just make a deal that involves trading Q and I will be happy with our D. Wouldn't mind trading Big E either...but he is Swedish so that gives him the tie breaker.

The defense stinks as it is and you want to get rid of Ericsson? The most reliable player the Wings have defensively and best penalty killer. Quincey isn't going to get traded -- they could have just not signed him to that absurd contract if they didn't want him around.

I'm all for upgrading the defense using the surplus of prospects if the right deal is there. Trading E though, at this time, would be a huge loss. Ericsson is a much better d-man than Quincey.
