Callahan, Ferraro and Porter placed on Waivers

They'll carry 14 forwards. With Datsyuk on IR there's an open spot for Nestrasil.

Zetterberg

Franzen

Nyquist

Tatar

Sheahan

Jurco

Helm

Weiss

Miller

Glendening

Abdelkader

Cleary

Andersson

Nestrasil until Datsyuk is ready.

And I predict nestrasil will prove himself to be valuable and we will get rid of one of cleary Andersson miller and once again due to injuries the redwings will find someone else who can play

Doesn't look like anyone will be claimed.. Good news for the Griffins and our top line once everyone gets injured

Got too many prospects up in Grand Rapids and mantha coming when he's healed , rather get rid of Ferraro and porter if possible and let the other kids play

I agree on Porter he has no future here but Ferraro still has potential to develop as a decent Pker. He can be used in GR

Agreed. Cleary will at least be given a shot at the beginning of the season. I don't think that Andersson has a future with the team - if Nestrasil impresses, Andersson could very well be waived when Datsyuk comes back.

I removed the names that I wish we could just say sorry but we're moving on to.

Maybe missed something - how do you know?

Well XO outplayed him in every facet of the game. And showed he can contribute on the PP which Kindl never managed to succeed at. Hes still up, which means they want him playing, as they already said hes not gonna stay up just to sit in the press box. I think theyre trying to find a way to part with Andersson/Kindl but doubt abyone wants em.

Was really hoping Jensen would stay up. Better defensively responsible than Ouelett.

Disagree, big time. Offensively, Jensen > Ouellet. All around game, Ouellet beats him easily. He had a few off games during the preseason, but I think part of that was trying to put up some numbers in an attempt to make the team. He sacrificed positioning and smart puck decisions to generate some offense, but if he's given a spot on the team, I think he'll return to what's made him so successful to this point - being a well rounded, accountable defender.

I agree on Porter he has no future here but Ferraro still has potential to develop as a decent Pker. He can be used in GR

They just brought Porter in this offseason, so he's not going anywhere. While I agree he's got no future in Detroit, they're not going to remove him already. Right now, GR needs Porter, anyway. Miele's out, Nesty and Jurco are still up with the team. Right now they have about 11 or so healthy forwards, not accounting for the guys on AHL contracts. Porter serves as depth, at least for the time being.

Colton Orr and Frazer McLaren put on waivers today, wonder if we finally take one of the two..whom am I kidding won't happen although both would help our 4 line.

Help slow it down? Both guys are anchors. There are a handful of guys in this league willing to drop the gloves that I would take on this team, and all of them chip in some other way. Orr and McLaren don't really provide anything outside of the fisticuffs.

I asked you this question in another thread, but I'm guessing you never saw it as you never answered. There was more, but the rest would be irrelevant to this thread. Scratch out McGratton, insert Orr.

Wouldn't you agree, that if the Wings did have a guy willing to drop the gloves, it would benefit the team more if the guy served a purpose outside of just fighting? I would much rather have a Shanahan, McCarty, Hartnell etc. then a Brian McGratton who is a liability every time he steps on the ice?

Chuck Pleiness @wingsfrontman 20s21 seconds ago

Mitch Callahan, Landon Ferraro and Kevin Porter have all cleared waivers.

Ansar Khan @AnsarKhanMLive 29s30 seconds ago

Callahan, Ferraro and Porter all cleared waivers today. Nobody waived today by Wings.

So we're still 3 players over the roster limit? What's to come of that?

Well, Mrazek will be sent down. That's a given.

The general opinion is that Datsyuk will most likely go on IR making way for Nestrasil to stick for a week or two.

The real question is on D. If they're serious about keeping Ouelett, they have to make room for him by waiving/trading either Kindl or Lashoff.

Doesn't sound like Dats will be ready for Thursday, but they are making it sound like it's a possibility and he's a lot closer to returning than expected.

Having said that, I'm willing to wager Jurco, Mrazek and XO get sent down so we don't lose any bodies. Unless they surprise us and waive/trade someone.

If Holland sends Jurco down, then he's just trolling Babcock at this point.

McGrattan provides leadership and does score some goals here and there too, so the guy is not a liability. I would love to have the next DMac, Probert ... but finding the next Dmac is way harder than adding a player for nothing and play him against teams where he will be needed (Sens, Bruins, Leafs and of course Pens with Scuderi) ?

Doesn't matter if its the AHL, NHL I want to see our guns going outthere and being able to safely do whatever they want (like McGrattan phrased it).

McGrattan and score goals?? Seriously? The guy has 300+ games in the NHL and freaking 10 (ten) goals. That's what - 1 goal in 30 games. Goons like him don't belong to NHL anymore. Hell, Tie Domi has 100+ goals in 1000+ games - 3 more per game, and he never was accounted as goal scoring toughguy

Edit. 3 times more of course

Edit 2. And having a tough guy in the opposition team never stopped Cooke from headhunting on Savard, or Pronger from trying to knee Stevie, or Stevens crushing Lindros et cetera.

If only..I mean you can send him to the AHL play sheriff there and when the Leafs, Bruins, Sens or *grrr* Pens with Scuderi are rolling to town call him up.

Hell, call up Hoggan. At least he will stand up for our guys.

Send him to the AHL??? Have you lost your mind??? A knuckle dragger of his caliber would be wasted in the AHL, not to mention he would NEVER clear waivers. Shop wreckers like him don't just grow on trees Frank. If they did all the basement teams would be able to load up on them too.
