No s***. It's like Holland's driving a car with two bald rear tires but refuses to change them becasue then they'll go to waste.

Maybe he forgot to kick them before he went out for a drive.

The roster moves have pissed people off so much that they're experiencing hallucinations involving talking dogs. Way to go, Kenny.

I wish i could like this more than once.

I'm actually kind of excited to see nestrasil working this year.

This could all be for show just to trade Kindl. Teams will think he's a roster player?

I think they're are more than a few teams that would add him, but his cap hit is what, 2.4m for the next few years?

He could be one of those guys teams think a change if scenery would help, and he was decent in stretches with the right partner, but who knows.

If Kenny gets something for him I'll be happy, but you got to think Holland will be trying to do something to get xo in here, especially given how hard babs was pulling for him and you don't wanna go into the contract talks with babs with him thinking he has almost no say in the line up.

Maybe babs should also ask for a proven goal scorer, and stipulate he will only re-sign if holland gets him a top pairing dman and a 40 goal scorer, and watch holland squirm MUAHAHAHAH

Could you imagine the amount of coaches that would start putting that into their contract terms if Holland did it?

It would be madness, MADNESS!!!

But unfortunately I think too many GMs just want to see the wings fall for that to even be possible.

That or they're waiting to see if they should continue modeling their franchises after Detroit based on the results of our reload/on the fly rebuild.

Can you imagine how epic Holland will be in the eyes of the league if we win a cup once datsyuks gone without having to tank?

They'd probably create a new award for him.

As people have already mentioned, the roster is not set in stone.

If the rumors are true, it sounds like Holland is trying to free up a spot for XO by moving Kindl.

On a side note, XO is one of the cooler, easier to type nicknames I've seen in a while. And Nestrasil sounds like something you put on acne. "I used to get breakouts all the time in high school. Then I started using Nestrasil!"

So we have cough medicine and acne cream on our team now.

This team needs a real doctor, not crappy pharmacy items.

And for what it's worth, I really don't care if Ouellet starts in GR so Holland can try and get something for Kindl. So long as we're talking a week or two, it's really not that big of a deal. Is it ideal? No. But given the circumstances, I don't think it's worth getting too worked up about so long as it doesn't drag on. If it drags on, then that's a completely different and colossally depressing story, not to mention yet another example of pathetic management from Holland. But I'm willing to wait and see how it shakes down early on. If you can get something for Kindl, it's better than giving him away for nothing. I don't think having Kindl around and Ouellet in GR for a 4-5 games at the start the season is going to make or break anything.

All that said, it's still at least a little bit pathetic that this didn't get taken care of sooner. Who didn't see Ouellet beating Kindl for a spot coming, really? My biggest critique of Holland is not dealing with his problems before his back is completely against the wall, crippling his chances of getting a more fair deal.

It's more about giving Kindl every opportunity to prove himself. He was terrible last year but was a pretty serviceable offensive defensemen the year before. He had a bad preseason but that's just preseason, maybe he can play decent hockey when the season starts but I doubt it. He will be awful and be a scratch in no time I predict

Weak. Holland just took the easy way out again. New season, same frustrating rhetoric.

This. Very, very disapointing.

After the last 2 years of only just scraping into the playoffs with a point or two to spare, one would hope we'd learn our lesson and ice the best possible roster from day 1.

2 points in October are worth just as much as 2 points in April. And like others have said, this kind of crap is exactly what will force Babs out.

Frustrating but expected. The Babs v. Holland on XO surprises me. I'm generally annoyed at the "overripe" theory still winning. I think it's outdated. Give these kids their shot. Nyquist and Tatar were in GR last year and now we're counting on them to carry the load this season!

Tatar did not play one single second in the AHL last year.

Fixed! Still think my point is relevant.

I'm not fine with any professional hockey team that realistically plans to use all of Abdelkader, Helm, Miller, Glendening, and Andersson. Nevermind Nestrasil, he'll be gone in a week or two.

Three...maaaaaaybe four of those guys could play on my team. But not all of them. We've got mediocre talent eating up a lot of roster spots and minutes. Until we don't, this team will stay mediocre.

"But...but...but...Kip, Mike Babcock says Darren Helm and Justin Abdelkader are too good to be on the fourth line".

So what?

Kris Draper won the Selke, scored more than either of them, and played on the fourth line for most of his career.

Ice a real roster or lose games. It's pretty simple.

Come on Kip. Those guys are all good for 40 goals.

Between the 5 of them.

If things go well.

Honestly, the part that irritates me isn't that they're playing. They've all got some value (if used correctly). What gets my goat is the the organization has everyone around here so hoodwinked that they actually buy it when Abby gets put on the top line and we hear "Dats wants Abby to pull the piano". Or "Helms speed will be killer on the forecheck". All us monkeys nod our heads in agreement and then wonder why Dats and Z's production falls to the floor.

Want a guy who can "pull the piano" AND produce in top six? The Sabres have been trying to trade Drew Stafford for two years. He's not a superstar but he's WAY better than Abdelkader.

Want a guy who can use speed on the forecheck and produce in the top six? You've got at least two of them toiling away on your third line (Tatar and Jurco). Or you could have signed someone like Radim Vrbata (a possession monster) who consistently produces offense while being defensively responsible.

Nope, Helm and Abby. That's the way to the promised land. Ugh.

I mean, I don't want to be overly pessimistic. I know that the lineups will change and the roster will look a lot different in a couple of months. I just long for the days when we could go into a season without obvious holes and/or huge question marks. In general I'm happy with the integration of Tatar, Jurco, Nyquist, and (eventually) Quellet. I just still don't think it's enough. As long as we've got fourth line talent on the other three, I'm going to be hopeful...yet not satisfied.

Helm and Abdelkader are lightyears ahead of the others mentioned imo, but I suppose you would prefer 5 Semin's?

I'm in the same boat for Wings standards this is a disappointing roster with too many question marks. Bright spots are obviously Tatar, Goose and if he does well XO other than that pretty meh.
