more NHL wisdom: Chris Pronger may work for Dept of Player Safety

IMO the logic is, hire dirty players to catch dirty players. Just like they hire cheats in Vegas to catch cheats in Vegas. It makes sense to me...

Pronger and Shanahan understand the physical game better than most and know when a player is just being physical or going too far.

If they hired a guy like Crosby everyone would have foam wrapped around them, and players would get a game misconduct for inflicting an ouchy to an opposing player.

I hadn't thought about it this way. I was thinking more along the lines of it being like Bill Clinton in charge of interns, but I see your point. My biggest problem with this is how can he be on LTIR and get a new job at the same time? It's way past shady and I can't believe the other 29 GMs aren't up in arms about this.

I listened to his TSN interview (took me only 8 clicks to get there...) some interesting things:

- he will be in NY once a month because they have some sort of torontian like warroom there

- Quintal can ask him for his advice but doesn't have too

- Pronger's eye and head are still not where they need to be (that's really sad)

- guy wants to learn more about the backend of the game

- thinks its a way for him to still stay involved

- is impressed and scared (like me) by how fast the game has become
